  • Fix lvl 80? why keep playing?

I'm a lvl 79 general about to get my butt handed to me indefinitely because apparently at lvl 80, 10 lvl range protection ends and everyone and their grandmother will be chain attacking me in perpetuity, despite the fact I have good defenses for my level.

given that stat points are inelastic (i.e. you cant get them except through quests or leveling) what possible explanation is there for treating lvl 80 differently? I am seriously considering just not playing anymore, its so clearly broken.

I worked hard for my battle points, but the few extra stat points wont be much defense against a lvl 120, or even worse a lvl 200.

How did other people handle this?

You'll be surprised how many battles you'll be able to win.
80 to 90 is hard, then it gets better. And once you're 100 or so, you'll be attacking 80s just the same. Give up if you think you can't take the challenge. But all of us had to go through this. And to be honest, it isn't even that bad if you're prepared properly.

it used to be level 70! it was so much worse! and when i was level 70 it was when the whole battle ranking system was just introduced. so i kept dying after 2 seconds of healing. no i'm not kidding. anyway now everyone's using stamina for dragons so i don't think you've much to worry about. yay!

          Jump in! The water's great!

I was below level 70 when the dragons were introduced. I was trying like crazy to avoid even reaching level 70, but I just couldn't help it with the dragons around. I'm now level 84, and it's fine, at least for the moment. I can hit dragons for two or three hours in a row before someone eventually finds me and chains me to death, but compared to the horror stories I've heard about level 80 people dying every 2 seconds, this isn't bad at all.

It's possible that the dragons might've fixed the level 80 problem. It's also possible that lowering the protected HP from 20 to 10 might've fixed the level 80 problem as well. The problems you're dreading might've been permanently fixed before you wrote your complaint. How can you complain when you haven't even tried it yet?

You'll never get anywhere in life if you quit before you even start. The attitude you've shown in your post by saying that you've seriously considered quitting before you've even tried it is self-defeating. It's a game. It's a challenge. And, the way things are right now, it's a whole lot of fun. It was quite a rush to hand a level 100+ player his head on a platter. He chained me, he's two battle ranks up, and he didn't bank. I got revenge, battle points, demi points, and money. I felt a little bad about it, but he chained me first, not to mention there are all the other people who had no qualms about chaining me as well, so I got over it.

My experience so far is that being level 80 right now is at least playable and survivable. Unfortunately, there's a chance that the effect is only due to everybody being excited about dragons at the moment. So, it might be a good idea to jump in NOW and level up as quickly as you can so you'll have the necessary stats to survive before people get tired of the dragons and start pummeling level 80 characters again, just in case the fixes are only temporary.

The attack restrictions disappear at level 80 because there aren't enough people above that level to have battle brackets. Otherwise chain attacking the same people over and over will be rampant and very unfun for those losing all the time.

Take the plunge, it shouldn't be as bad as it used to. With the dragons out and all the high level players already at High General the pvp action is very much muted compared to what it used to be like. You are 80% more likely to be attacked by people around your level than one 200 levels above. And even if you are attacked by people high above you, that's not a guarantee that they have a good a stat setup as you. Just for an example, I was able to defeat, at level 80ish someone three times my size consistently when defending. Not everyone up high is a juggernaut. Remember, fear is of the dark side.

Level 80 is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. I just hit it a few days ago and a few people will chain you but then I just go and chain someone else. You lose 3 or 4 battle points and get back 8 to 12.

Level 80 ( used to be 70) is not nearly as bad as before the dragons were unleashed. Many people are more interested in dragons than attacking others. If the dragons go away and are not replaced with another distraction, I would expect it to be more difficult in the 80's range again.

thanks for all replies. So far it seems not as bad as I feared.

                        Much relieved, tbh

As a Lt General that just hit 80 a couple days ago I actually love it.

I was worried that my high rank would make me a target. And it might, but there's not that many people looking at the moment it seems. Everybody is off hunting dragons with their stamina. Sure, I get attacked some, but I can actually leave my hp above 10 for quite a while and I have only actually been chained down to below 10 once so far. If you take out the one person that chained me, then I've won way more attacks on myself than lost since hitting 80.

What I love about it is that now I have way more targets than I did in the 70-79 bracket. I was lucky to get one Lt Commander or Commander before, but now I'm usually faced with a few Commanders and Lt Generals on my list to attack. I'm finding battle points much easier to get now than in the 70-79 bracket. And the combined effect of the dragons and lowering the hp lost makes most of my attack list attackable instead of "too low to attack".

It does get tough juggling your stamina between battles and dragons since you can't do either once you get below 10! I'll battle down below 10 and then wish I could use my left over stamina on dragons, haha.
