  • Winter season donations ?

Am i looking at this correctly

    Winter season donations....

    1. Are we going to get a new set of rewards come the Spring

    2. Are our tower levels going to be reset to 0 come the Spring

  • #2
Yes to both questions, although we don't know when the Spring Season is set to start in Castle Age.

So my guild just wasted a ton of iron upgrading towers that are going to be reset in a couple of weeks?!?!

Depends on your definition of "couple", well actually probably depends on the devs definition of "season" as we have no idea how many weeks this will last. But yes, any investment you make into the towers is lost when the next season rolls around, however long into the future that is.

There in lies the question (same as in 10v10)....
Will seasons end every 3 months like our calendars so around March 20th? or some random time periods...
I have seen nothing ever stated.

Correct, the devs have never given an ending date to any season in 10v10 or 100v100.

I had assumed that these upgrades would last until end of spring season, so we would get 'value for money' out of the huge expenditure of iron. If we only get a few weeks it isn't fair, especially considering the tiny iron drops we've been given to supposedly compensate for all this

Kore said that the Winter trophies will be in IAs soon. Ir could be that 100v100 is actually a Spring event. If it is the Winter event they are going to get a fun reaction from the people who used tens of thousands of wood and iron for just a few weeks worth of benefit

I wouldn't mind if this last 3 months. I don't have a lot of iron and lumber so I need time to get something

We have people in our guild who don't have any iron at all. They spend it all fortifying our towers and upgrading our silos. It would take over 340 battles for them to get enough iron by playing 100v100 to unlock Vivian. I hope for their sakes that 100v100 is already in Spring season and that it'll last until next Fall.

Tass gave everyone on the forum a "couple" weeks notice when the Fall 10v will end -- the actual end date was pushed back further to help accommodate players getting their guild dust or something.

I expect the same with winter 10v and the new 100v. The Dev's have been pretty good with PSA on web3 and notices on this forum. Padaxan has stepped up with these "memos".

I don't see any announcement about 100v100 that answers the question here, hence the confusion and concern. When some of our guild spent 10,000 iron upgrading towers they did it before the donations reward screen appeared saying that it's winter season. So now we wonder if we wasted a lot of a precious resource.

No, we were reassured many times by different devs that donations are being saved even though the donation rewards weren't up yet.

However, donations could be buggy, even for people upgrading now. People have presented spreadsheets and numbers that suggest that donations aren't always being counted properly.

The game isn't displaying the donation points, so it's very difficult to prove that donations aren't updating. We don't know how many points the game thinks we have.

Obviously, the towers need to be built because they help in battle, but anybody who is low on resources might want to wait until donation points are being displayed before they dump all their resources.

                          Donation rewards weren't player-tested.

My question is this.......the Winter Season rewards show very good equipment, first sets of non-chest generals and some alchemizable generals, and even a limited general that can be bought for promotion.

Once the reset occurs, will those old rewards be lost forever? Because if so, I can see a bad bad bad thing happening to where you run out of resources to get points, then can't get your general to promote (like Zarevok who I suspect will be in the next season) and then you're just SOL. Because getting 42500 points takes roughly 14000 lumber and 14000 iron (is my math right there?)

Is it just me or is that a large amount of iron to expect to get in a 3-4 month period? Even with the ability to get iron and lumber in battles and the random 3000 iron 3000 lumber promo....it just seems like a hard goal to consistently get to each season

As for your comments about rewards, I think it has more to do with your expectations. Studies have show those with high expectations aren't as happy as those with low expectations. I have no idea what the developers are doing, but I trust these Dev will take in feedback -- both positive and negative -- and adjust or balance future prizes. And separately, if you are afraid that these rewards will never return (a la Arena framework), then I recommend buying them since it only costs guild coins and not something expensive as favor points.

As for whether the iron demands are huge, you need to consider: How valuable these Donation rewards are worth to you.

And as for the generic complaint about iron, I've stated many times before the game is designed to drop lots of iron:
                              (A) a guild has the ability to salvage a land each day for X amount of bonus lumber for 365X per annum (366X on a leap year)
                              (B) of those potential 365X, 52 of them will occur during double iron days for an additional 52X bonus lumber
                              (C) the guild has to decide whether to salvage land.

For example in one of my old guilds, the GM did not want any monster greater than a Rag or Genesis so he kept recruiting low level players. The GM didn't get the concept players in the guild was leveling up over time so that strategy didn't work. Eventually, we adopted a new strategy where the top players exit the guild and then open a new land. We went from Alpha Meth's or Gehenna's to Cronus, Rag, etc. It was annoying fixing the towers & 10v when the top players return 10 minutes later, but our guild decided we needed to lower LoM monsters. Separately, we could have started a new program to salvage land on a regular basis in addition to salvaging on double iron days, but I lost that debate.

The point remains that the game gives players the opportunity to get lots of iron, but it requires work.
