  • I am completely lost in this new stuff

Hi guys took a long break from the forums I'd appreciate a little help on how the piercing stuff works in PvP.

Now I have 4500+ Attack, almost no Defense.
My question is should I get BiS gear from monsters and forge them with pierce/resist, or should I get the items with +10 pierce/resist from conquest path?

I already have Vanathan and Annika, and +25 piercing ingots on my weapon.
Working on forging a 25 piercing resist on my Azeron Armor atm.

Are the items with higher attack/def better than the ones with less atk/def but more piercing? If so, when does atk/def start getting better than piercing?

A little help would be nice, considering my stats and my gear. In which direction should I progress? Some suggestions?

uhm I'll try to explain it from what I know.

10 pierce adds 1% of your eAttack

So what you need to do is to take the two items and calculate their eAttack and then see how big is the difference between them.

A common example could be Sword of redemption (50/30) and the warbringer shield (38/26)

Now their eAttack is 71 for SoR and 56 for warbringer shield with a difference of 15 between them.

So you need to calculate if 1% of your eAttack is more or less then 15. If yes then warbringer is better, if not SoR is better.

Note that this only applies when attacking, when defending SoR will always be better

-for pierce resistance it's the same procedure only with defence instead of attack

-In case you don't know, eAttack is calculated with attack+(defence*0,7)

That's how I know it works...

Well, be prepared to wait a LONG time for the newer monsters to drop alchemy parts and ingots. if you do decide so. I mean, I am currently fighting Baal's from Alperon. I have 4 alchemy parts and 15 soul cages and 10 crowns, so to me, the drop rate is less than 15%. In reality the drop rate is larger, yet not like 50% alchemy drops. Only Poseidon and Fenix drop parts in a fair amount, but Poseidon gives no essences, crystals or powders.

If you're patient, go for the BiS gear with forges, if you're not, just buy the conquets path set.

While many, possibly even most, claim that Piercing/Resistance do not function in the opposing side.
Piercing bonus does not function while defending.
Resistance bonus does not function while Attacking.

I've noticed more than once being able to defeat an opponent repeatedly while I had Vanathan equipped that I could not beat even once with any other general besides Annika equipped.

The newer items from monster battles are worth having for the Divine Power they provide, provided they have any DP. As well often their stats are such as to be a help to your War Council if you partake of that side of PvP.

The items and equipment from the 4 paths are also worth having, their stats in many cases being not all that far from average or better and the top items from each path can also be Forged. Each set provides a bonus that can often make it better than the current BIS item for that slot.

Every Conqueror Path item provides +10 Physical Piercing. Combined with whatever General is owned along with gems or ingots forged to the top items, that could well mean a 10% to 15% or even more bonus to your E-Attack.

Guardian Path items all provide +10 Physical Resistance. See above. That could total to 10% to 15% or even more bonus to your E-Defense.

Hunter Path items all provide +1% chance Critical Hit. So that not counting the general you have equipped that can provide an extra +7% to your chances of scoring a critical hit.

Engineer Path items are both the most difficult to acquire and the most expensive to use. As each item provides +player defense at the expense of -player energy.

But each and every path item and set provide a plus to player attack or defense simply by owning them because of the Item Archives. That bonus alone makes them worth getting. And except for possibly Engineer Path, it is all by doing the exact same things you would likely be doing anyway.

So conquest items are a lot better for me than BiS items that drop from monsters since I got 4.5k+ raw attack without runes or any bonuses. Since they boost in % I'd gain more eATK by using conquest items with piercing, when I am attacking.

            For attacking definitely.

For defending I don't know. I knew they didn't work but Draconus says he noticed an increase. So I wouldn't know. We need more insight in it, unfortunately testing is not that easy...

I use vanathan allied with Vanir as my defensive general. With ingots and guardian items I get an 11% bonus to my eDEF. And a few weeks ago compared to now I have noticed a big change: I'm bouncing players that only a couple weeks ago were breaking me. So I do believe that if it was broken it has been fixed.

Althought I haven't done any officiAl testing i can say that several people in GB that used to break me are now bouncing off me.

I'd use offensive generals offensively and defensive generals defensively until definite proof has been found.

That's usually the best bet. I usually don't use a Defensive general when attacking but it was a GB where my Guild was out matched for firepower and we were all of us just trying to stay un-stunned long enough to make enough coins to be worth the 20 stamina for joining.

I had found myself a 240 point shot to camp on for as long as it lasted but had found my health starting to drop so I changed to Vanathan for the better defense.
(I own both Vanathan and Vanir and have them linked. Also Annika and Aesir.)
My chosen target also had Vanathan equipped.
After changing to Vanathan myself I decided to try my target again to check results and had no trouble continuing to chain them for 240's. Some bit later the pressure fell off so I decided to bring out Meekah so as to do more damage and perhaps allow my guild a chance to clear at least that one gate. With Meekah equipped I bounced 4 times in a row. Changed back to Vanathan and spent the next 3 hours knocking 240 point tokens out of my target without trouble.
