  • About general transfer bonus: Evalice, Halcyon, Vanir & Aesir

    Not a work in progress anymore...

    We were discussing the new generals at VH and I had a go at the maths involved.

    It seems Vanir gives a 4% bonus on effective defense at LVL 4 and Aesir a 4% bonus on effective attack at LVL 4. It seems as in meaning I didn't come up with this value and am taking it as true for comparison.

    Now, I have been informed the 4% guesstimate comes from test hits carried out and processed by the BLOOD guild. So all credit to them none to me. OK?

    So the question was: do I use these new peeps instead of Evalice and Halcyon for PvP?

    Here's a table with the bonus that Evalice LVL4 will give to your effective attack and Halcyon at LVL4 to your effective defense, depending on the distribution between attack and defense you have. I made it in order to look busy on a Sunday morning and not having to wash the dishes at home. True story.

    =================================================
    Att/Def --- Def/Att --- Evalice bonus --- Halcyon bonus
    =================================================
    0.00 --------- 100++ ----- 12.86% --------- 0.00%
    0.05 --------- 20.0 ------- 12.00% --------- 0.36%
    0.10 --------- 10.0 ------- 11.25% --------- 0.70%
    0.20 --------- 5.0 -------- 10.00% --------- 1.32%
    0.25 --------- 4.0 --------- 9.47% --------- 1.60%
    0.50 --------- 2.0 --------- 7.50% --------- 2.78%
    0.85 --------- 1.2 --------- 5.81% --------- 4.00%
    1.00 --------- 1.0 --------- 5.29% --------- 4.41%
    1.50 --------- 0.7 --------- 4.09% --------- 5.49%
    1.55 --------- 0.6 --------- 4.00% --------- 5.58%
    2.00 --------- 0.5 --------- 3.33% --------- 6.25%
    3.00 --------- 0.3 --------- 2.43% --------- 7.26%
    5.00 --------- 0.2 --------- 1.58% --------- 8.33%
    10.0 --------- 0.1 --------- 0.84% --------- 9.38%
    15.0 --------- 0.06 -------- 0.57% --------- 9.78%
    20.0 --------- 0.05 -------- 0.43% --------- 10.00%
    100+ --------- 0.0 --------- 0.00% --------- 10.71%
    ================================================

    So:

    If your Att/Def ratio is less than 0.85 ----> Use Evalice on attack but Vanir on defense
    If your Att/Def ratio is more than 0.85 but less than 1.55 ----> Use Evalice on attack and Halcyon on defense
    If your Att/Def ratio is more than 1.55 ----> Use Aesir on attack and Halcyon on defense

    And that's it. The idea was to inform peeps not into maths that might have an interest on this.

    Jeez.

    Here's the not rocket science maths, just basic Algebra.

    1. Definitions:

    ATT = Total attack stat
    DEF = Total defense stat
    Ar = ATT/DEF
    Dr = DEF/ATT
    eA = Effective attack
    eAev = Effective attack with Evalice equipped
    eD = Effective defense
    eDhc = Effective defense with Halcyon equipped
    Eb = Evalice bonus on attack
    Hb = Halcyon bonus on defense

    2. Effective Attack and effective Defense

    eA = ATT + 0.7 * DEF

    or

    eA = ATT + 0.7 * Dr * ATT = ( 1 + 0.7Dr ) * ATT

    =========

    eD = DEF + 0.7 * ATT

    eD = DEF + 0.7 * Ar * DEF = ( 1 + 0.7Ar ) * DEF

    3. Effective Attack and defense with transfer generals

    Evalice

    eAev = (1 + 0.7Dr ) * ATT + 0.09Dr * ATT

    eAev = ( 1 + 0.79Dr ) * ATT

    Halcyon

    eDhc = (1 + 0.7Ar ) * DEF + 0.075Ar * DEF

    eDhc = ( 1 + 0.775Ar ) * DEF

    4. Attack and defense bonus

    Eb (%) = ( eAev / eA ) - 1 [Evalice bonus on attack]

    Eb (%) = [ ( 1 + 0.79Dr ) / ( 1 + 0.7Dr ) ] - 1

    ==========================================

    Hb (%) = ( eDhc / eD ) - 1 [Halcyon bonus on defense]

    Hb (%) = [ ( 1 + 0.775Ar ) / ( 1 + 0.7Ar ) ] - 1

      You are absolutely amazing. No doubt about it.

      Can't wait to read the explanation why...

        What's sad is you can steal the work but not simply give the Excel Formula to do it yourself easier which I gave out with it. You put to much work into just not giving credit.

          The math for the transfer generals is still fairly easy to figure out and have been brought up before in older discussions on which generals to equip for invasions.

          What's more interesting here (to me anyway) would be the derivations of the 4% bonus of Vanir & Aesir.

            This has to do more with the credit taking from their guild wall and other places after my helpers got done and passed it around.

                1. Pretty generic childish response I was expecting.
                2. Didn't know I had too.
                3. Let's take some of the laughable posts you made on your guild wall to and WW. "Mystery Math Men" "Don't ask me" "Someone who knows it post in the forums"

                Now, let me help you with proper posting towards your general forum user and what they want.

                If you don't have access to Microsoft Excel, Google Document usually has one you can work with for your guild. For the parts erased just put your stats.

                By golly that was to much effort for someone so petty.

                Now that I have done you the entire favor of how your post should have went, enjoy. Go take credit for baking cookies tomorrow or something else as you usually do. I have sleep to get to.

                  Frankly, you both suck at making it a post the common man can understand.

                      Thanks for sharing it on the forum. For comparison, I think it's no difference to comparing Chase with other generals except dueling would be more useful in a lot more places.

                      Short version of the lists to compare would be:
                      - Polymorphing, +6% reach for Aesir compared to +10% for Anya.
                      - Invasion, Mephi still rules with 8% (expect a chest version to come for dueling)
                      - Health boost generals, how much health to add to get the same 4% effective:
                      • Aurelius vs Vanir, 10.9% of defense
                      • Corvi vs Vanir, 12% of defense
                      • Jahanna vs Aesir, 14.55% of attack
                      • Aurora vs Aesir, 16% of attack

                      - Anyone else I can't think of right now
                      ?!

                        So let me get this straight, he started this thread and you're not happy with the way the thread went, so you post how you feel it should've went and piss all over his thread? Nicely done.

                        I don't know what posts on the VH guild wall you refer to are, so I don't get the reference to "Mystery Math Men" "Don't ask me" "Someone who knows it post in the forums"

                        VH didn't derive the 4%. I'm guessing you and your helpers did, from the way you appear to be taking credit for that. Hfaistos just presented his calculations based on that 4% to try and answer the questions people had about the new generals.

                        I have to say though, that's way too much math for me to digest

                        All I really needed to know was:

                        If your Att/Def is less than 0.85 ----> Use Evalice on attack but Vanir on defense
                        If your Att/Def is more than 0.85 but less than 1.55 ----> Use Evalice on attack and Halcyon on defense
                        If your Att/Def is more than 1.55 ----> Use Aesir on attack and Halcyon on defense
                        O woe is me,
                        O woe is me,
                        I used to have a hamster tree,
                        But it was eaten by a newt,
                        And now I have no cuddly fruit,
                        O woe is me,
                        O woe is me,
                        I used to have a hamster tree!

                          so somehow if i own one of these generals its like having a general that will transfer 4% of my stats? So in other words the power of the generals pierce and resistance to pierce is 4% and if someone has it equipped i'd need 4% more attack power to break their defense if they have that one that gives them piercing defense?

                          like the physical pierce general would transfer 4% of my defense to attack? (i'm trying to be as dumb as i can to fully understand this :P)

                              No, it doesn't transfer stats (it would show in your keep if it did), just straight effective power. for example, Chase would modify the same = 520/500 x eAtt (or eDef, defending invasion) = 1.04 x effective (edit: 4% bonus).
