Forum Rules [Updated 12/21/2016]

MAIN RULES OF THE FORUMS

Please respect your community. Respect each other as you all enjoy the same thing – The Game.

We encourage open and friendly discussion of the game and the Community. Moderators and Staff have final decisions on all matters, and are here to make sure that the Community remains a friendly, fun place appropriate for players of all backgrounds, ages and groups.

It is the forum member's responsibility to stay up to date on forum rules and to honor the behavior outlined.

PURPOSE OF THE FORUMS

These forums provide an area for constructive player discussions of the game. It also allows players to
help each other identify bugs and issues, and help each other reproduce and resolve them.

These forums are not the most direct way to contact support. If you’re having an issue with your game and you need direct assistance, please tap on the FAQ/Support tab within the game.

CHANGES OR IMPROVEMENT

Please make sure to stay updated on these rules by reviewing this page from time to time.

SET RULES

This is a private board. As such, decisions made are final.
We reserve the right to remove any message board content without notice for any reason.

Rule 1: Responses to rule violations
Violating these rules will result in warnings, either formal or informal, suspensions, banning, or other sanctions.

Rule 2: Respect other users on the forums
- Do not make attacks or insult other users, either in the forums or through private messages. Disagreements and debates are fine, but don’t make it personal.
- Do not attack groups. This includes professions, races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, incomes, or even vague groups like “you people.”
- Do not use ill terms which are offensive to groups, do not “flame”, “troll.” or “haze”.

Rule 3: Respect the forum purpose and structure
- Make your posts in the appropriate forum.
- Please use the Search function. If a relevant thread already exists, please post there instead of creating a new thread about the same topic. Duplicate threads will be closed to keep the forums orderly and easy to navigate.
- Keep off-topic posts in the off-topic forum.
- Don’t start discussions about games that are not ours.
- Do not cross-link to other message boards or websites unless approved by a moderator.

Rule 4: Respect the law
- Do not post anything illegal under U.S. law, or encourage other users to break the laws of the U.S. or their country of residence.
- Do not encourage users to break terms of service. This includes giving information about how to find scripts, exploits, or cheats, as well as arranging to buy or sell accounts or virtual goods.

Rule 5: Respect the audience
Think about who you're talking to. Users may be as young as 13 on these message boards, and may be male or female, and from countries across the globe.
- Keep your language civil. Profanity is frowned on.
- Do not post Adult Material, inappropriate graphic sexual content in any format, or links to sexually explicit sites.
- Do not post graphic images or explicit descriptions of violent acts.
- Do not use an avatar or signature that could offend other users. They have to look at it a lot.

Rule 6: Respect privacy
- Do not post any private emails or private messages unless you have the explicit permission of each person involved in the exchange.
- Do not post private communication between customer support, members, moderators, or administrators on these forums, or anywhere else. (This include support ticket responses)
- Do not post any information covered by a non-disclosure agreement or beta testing agreement. Even if you somehow have inside information about our competitors, for legal reasons we don’t want to hear it.
- Do not post Facebook information about other forum users.
- Do not post any private information about other users.
- Do not post in-game information in an attempt to have other players attack your target. Be careful to not cross the line into bullying.

Rule 7: Do not spam
- Do not post repeatedly about the same topic.
- Do not spam users on the forums or through private messages.
- Do not start a thread without actual purpose.
- Do not start a thread about a news story or article unless you make it clear what the story is about, and offer your own opinion to start a discussion.

Rule 8: Respect your account
- Do not share your account information with other individuals. You will be held responsible for any rules violations that occur under your account.
- Do not create new accounts or use other tricks to avoid suspensions or bans.
- Do not create ‘sock puppet’ accounts – multiple accounts created just so that you can agree with yourself and make it seem like your ideas have more support than they do.
- Never include your e-mail address or any other personal information in posts.

Rule 9: Respect the Moderators
- Do not post using the color red. This color is reserved for moderators.
- Do not impersonate moderators. Do not claim to speak for the moderators.

Rule 10: Respect the decisions of the moderators
- The moderation teams reserves the right to warn, suspend, or permanently ban users judged to be acting against the spirit of the rules, even if the user is following the letter of the rules.
- Do not argue with moderators about moderator decisions. You can disagree with a moderator’s opinions, just like any other poster, but when they post moderator actions in red text, it is considered final.
- Moderators have no access to your game account. If you have an issue you must contact customer service.

Generally, BE NICE. There is nothing wrong with being nice to each other.

I am so tired of hearing this argument.

    Threads: 47,029, Posts: 1,106,230, Members: 165,896, Active Members: 6,474
Welcome to our newest member, Sandra Gurney

so we have 166,000 members. What do you say the ratio is on word-of-mouth exposure? 10 to 1?

just about every single game I have ever checked out on FB has a forum. When I find a game that I like to play(barring bejeweled, solitaire, wheel of fortune, etc...and I have a question, I find the forum, and go read or ask questions.

If anyone who has more than a passing interest in this game says they have never been here, I just flat out will not believe them. I can believe that they have not bothered to make an account and post, but I will never believe that they have never been here.

If they have played this game for more than a month, I will guarantee they have been here. They certainly know how to find the place when they want a monster, now don't they? So anyone who found this link given them, and did not at least come here to check on the situation, in my opinion, has no business playing on the internet.

Now, especially right now, I will be the first to say that the devs responses to things are spotty at best, and that people coming here for answers may or may not get the answer directly from a dev, but for 99% of the things legitimately released from them, you will find a post about it in Vulcan's News Forum. if you cant, then you will likely find a thread about it on the general, with some info from long-time players who are prolly the next best thing, and can point you in the right direction, at the very least.

So this argument is one that has been way overused, and it has absolutely no legitimacy at all, and I wish people would stop being disingenuous by continuing to use it.

    Thank you

That 166,000 number probably isn't all that accurate, given how many spambots join automatically and probably aren't deleted. Not to mention at least half of those members have probably quit playing over the years...

My rough estimate is maybe 1 out of 50 players actually uses the forum actively, at best.

      Good solid rant.

28 out of 30 on presentation, nice use of facts and logic
24 out of 30 for passion, didn't feel as angry as your golden egg rant but still you sounded irritated.
26 out 30 for proper context, good time to post this after the last few days
10 out of 10 for condemantion, I felt your final closing sentence was very strong and should sting some people.

      Overall I am going with a 88% and B+.

Prove it....you can't guarantee anything. You're probably right about it being an overused excuse though.

While there are a lot of lurkers, I kindly disagree with your sentiment.

I had actually been wondering if forum members could not have done more to prevent friends from stumbling and falling for the exploit link. Could we not have helped spread the news through our walls and to our groups and guilds that the link was not legitimate? Warn our friends not to click it? In this way, I wonder if the forum regulars did not somehow fail their armies.

I know many of you did post and warn just that, but it seems that in general there was a lack of communication between players-in-the-know and those that did-not-know-better.

The problem with that is that it's a double-edged sword. By telling them the exploit exists, you're also telling some of them to go look for it...

I guess the best thing would have been a simple "There's a dangerous link going around CA promising hero potions. Do not click it, as it could result in getting your account banned."

                  Scorps: YAY!

Chikn. Well, I don't know what the parameters are that the board uses, but it is probably a lil more accurate than you give credit for. I know that it notes when I ban someone. Any bots who have actually posted, are banned. If they have not posted, then they are still counted in the total. Id say it isnt too far off. But still lets go with 1 in 50 (active). Given that most players are in groups, or guilds, I would say that someone in that group or guild knows of, and posts thing in the group form the forum. Given that, my 10:1 ratio just shot up significantly.

My assessment stands: Anyone who comes here using that argument is using it disingenuously.

You're missing the most important logic step, anyone who comes here and uses that argument has come here and cannot use that argument.

i will agree with your logic, but not with ur use of the words "everyone and anyone"

i PERSONALY play side-by-side with my BF, and he NEVER uses the forum.
granted tho i use it plenty for the both of us, and he uses me as his resource if he has any questions. but not once has he ever used the forum...ever :P

but i would agree with you non-the-less that a vast-vast-vast majority of 'players' know and use the forum

Well, I know that I did post whenever I saw it, and more than once I got a pm in my fb box calling me dumb, stupid, etc. And most of those people are aware that I am a mod. That doesnt exalt me over anyone else, but in my opinion, it should have at least given them enough pause to come check the thing out, or ask around a bit more. So I think a lot of people just didnt care, at least at first, and now are coming here to use that excuse.

For others: And while it will be hard to keep the other stuff out of this thread, the focus is on that argument

there you go. he fits in the "know someone who uses the forum". If you werent around, and he saw the link, I would hope he would be smart enough to check around before clicking it.
