Personally i think it`s a more refined version of the old pvp system.
*chuckles* now i wanna see an "old school" pvp build adding stamina to keep up the pace (ohhh ze` paaain )
Don't need stamina to keep up. Need gear. Each general has their own gear slots. And from what I can see, other than yourself, as the leading general, PvP stats are moot.

I love it. I get two forms of PvP. Can care less about someone else with more stamina than I do.

I've checked in the long time that except extreme defensive build (lvl very slow) hide pays more that don't hide, sure defensive victory are good, but be chained to death is something i don't like.

          • WAR Mechanics

Okay, the other war thread seems to be on the good or bad, but not the nuts and bolts...

So, we've got seven v seven generals... Including yourself... Going for strategic points which have assigned point values. A few questions to help figure out how to win/lose...

I'll "grey out" answered questions, (likely update late with the answers here), and keep adding new (relevant) questions as they come in...

            1) Do the points represent how much you win if said general wins? In other words, get 9 points or higher and victory- or, is it the number of points, (i.e., four lands, that wins?

            (The scores, BTW)

            West Rampart
            (+2 points)
            Mage Tower
            (+3 points)
            Archer Wall
            (+1 points)
            Main Gate
            (+5 points)
            Armory
            (+1 points)
            Tower
            (+3 points)
            East Rampart
            (+2 points)

            2) Are the generals given a full gear run, (i.e., 1 weapon, 1 helmet, 1 magic, etc) each, between them, a single item?

            3) Do General special abilities count?

            4) Do soldiers play any part, (perhaps as an "item" per general)?

            5) Are generals reduced to level 1 like in invasions?

            6) Is your edited war council saved for when you are defending? (I need to fiddle more to see if this question even makes sense)

            7) Does your active general have any effect on the fight, (either by contributing to the players scores, allowing a level 4 general if all are reduced to level 1, etc)

            8) Do specialized armors come into play, (i.e., ZMC giving Zarevok the +3/+3), and if so, would they have to be randomly assigned into their WAR equipment?

            9) Does active general get experience?

            • I dislike this new feature. I'm going to get my blass kicked almost every time... although I could deal with the opponent personally most of the time.

I got into 10 wars before writing this. It seems to favor who could spend an insane amount of favor points for the best heroes and best weapons.

That said, Minerva has been getting hammered, on my side or on the opponents'. I'm sad for my cosmic girlfriend.

At least allow her to use Righteousness, instead of Blade of Vengeance, LOL.

On the plus side, Aurora on the far-left-hand corner has been as successful as me.

Note: If no War Council is chosen, a default one will be provided with your player set at the Main Gate and your six strongest generals set left to right in the remaining positions.
The default powerful general will not go to their spots if you change them for some reason and then try to have them reset automatically.

                • i bet we'll hear some complaints about war in few days. i'll bet the complaints would be not too far from "it's such a slap in the face to see those stamina junkies blablabla", "reduce the stamina cost!!!", or "make this a REAL pvp feature!!!". we'll just see

Not refferin` to you or anyone else in particular; some are mental about adding all sp`s onto att/def. Hence, if a "standard" pvp build has 120 stam, that`s 12 clicks. I see it kind of hard to amass BP`s with just that.
P.S.: i`m one of those that support the "everyone at its own pace" sayin`. Was just oppinating on my pov on the matter

Don't say 'oh you can just not play' because the best dueling (PvP) gear is gotten from monsters. There are many things to play in CA, and I think it's good that they're interrelated and not closed off from each other. It makes the game more interesting.
As I recall, the best PvP gear comes from Azeron, based on the number of times the Sword of Redemption is involved in a PvP attack that I just lost. IN addition, paying homage to Azeron grants added stamina, which looks like the second most stat for PvP.

PvP is about domination, and pretending that one person is "better than" another person. This is the joy received from PvP play. The disdain of PvM play for PvP players is that saying you are "better than" a computer program doesn't offer much joy, because the object on the other end of the beating doesn't care. A PvP player can't humiliate a computer monster. But by constantly beating on other players, especially chaining them...that is obviously about dominationa and humilation: "I'm beating you up and there's nothing you can do about it, {insert favored foul word here}!"

I'm not much for humiliating people, but, based on the alerts my top character deletes, there are a LARGE number of people that take great pleasure in trying to humilate me. It gets old.

PvP'ers had two options for combat. That's already one too many.

The top 7 of weapons, helmets, magic, whatever are chosen and 1 is assigned to each general, including yourself. Off hand items don't seem to be there as my sword of redemption was conspicuously absent. By default it seems the best items go to the leftmost (topmost) general, the next best to the next, etc. I haven't fiddled with the war council yet so I don't know how much of this you can strategically edit.

                            • These are very important statements in the info:
Your best seven sets of items will be randomly assigned to you and your heroes. (Note: you will only be allowed at most three (3) of each item).
