  • Understanding the Wraith King ability.

I want to make it clear that I fully understand Wraith King is a useless Legendary General that has no function even as a paperweight in anyone's alliance. What I am trying to understand is How his ability does work. I was testing him in a guild battle situation.

The first hit his ability worked , But the damage I did was 1429. Then it said I get +1268.5 Attack and 1279.5 Defense in combat log.

The Second hit his ability did not work in which I did damage of 1447 and get +10 Attack and +10 Defense. (The normal for a warrior)

So in other words when his ability worked I actually did less damage. Now does Wraith King's ability give you a better chance in Victory and no extra damage. I just wanna understand how the ability does work since clearly it does not do more damage in time it goes it effect as well as the next hit. Maybe someone knows how his ability works, So I can better understand it.

P.S. Yes I know he is garbage but he has a cool name and reminds me of Game of Thrones. #buffthewraithking

Wraith King gives "X% Chance to increase 50% attack and defense". So yeah, he increases your attack and defense stats, not your damage.

I suppose in your second hit you got more damage from an additional Confidence stack, or simply because base damage varies a bit (+-40 dmg I think).

So I assume your base stats are:
    2537 Attack
    2559 Defense
Is that right? Just raw stats?

I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered WK's ability applied to HIS att/def, not your toon's. I suppose it applies to his total alliance also, given Luciffer's response above. This was one of the many reasons he was considered completely worthless. If it applied to the toon's att/def, it'd still be fairly pointless, although I suppose there are rare instances it could be useful. But I don't think it does.

But with over and extra 2500 in attack and Defense you would think that would produce more damage but it’s basically exactly the same without using the ability.

Good to know it's based on alliance stats. Were you using him as the master of your alliance?

That's what I said in my first answer. WK increases your atk/def, NOT your damage.
Attack and Defense have never in the history of CA increased the damage you deal.
Only your Damage Rune and things (generals mostly) which specifically increase damage (the word damage is clearly mentioned in this case) increase, well, your damage.

Now here is something to think about. If attack/defense does not increase the damage. Would he be more viable in hitting monsters where attack is more damage. For example when I wanna do 1000 Stamina hits and have an alliance of Orc King/Barbarus/Moonlight Dragon. I know that Barbarus with his monster hunter gives guaranteed damage every time. But would the bonus in attack that once in a while that procs that attack, may be something to consider in using a Orc King/Wraith king/Crit monster alliance?

That's an interesting thought. IF the stats boost goes to the alliance stats, WK ability could be interesting for monster hunting. However the chance to trigger his ability is so low, I think it would be close to worthless anyway unless you have him at least at 5 or 6 stars level 79 or 80. So that the stats boost would be relatively significant and the chance to trigger would be around 20% probably.
Also if WK is not the master of the alliance, does his ability still increases the full alliance stats by 50%?

However anyway, the stats boost may go the the player stats (and not the alliance stats) and in that case it would be insignificant for monster hunting (cf. Generalities about Monster Hunting Generals). Some testing would need to be conducted in order to determine that.
But anyway, I think even in the best case scenario he would probably still pale compared to some other monster hunting generals.

One good thing about Wrath King unlike some other generals like Thane is that he does not have to be a lead in the Alliance. I used him with Layla and he get the bonus from that. I believe his chance of success is pretty much the same chance one would have with Monkey King. Now we all know that when Monkey King procs you save that stamina or energy in that attack. I would just love to know where Wrath Kings attack and Defense gets applied too. It may be similar to Thane in which Thane would ignore some resistances and may give you a victory in a duel that would not have a chance of winning. If may be the same with Wrath King where the attack/defense gives somewhat a better chance to gain a victory in someone who could defeat you. But if your fighting someone who you can easily win against Im sure that extra attack/defense would be useless.

Thane doesn't need to be the Master of your alliance for his ability to kick in. Not at all, my friend. I use him occasionally but never in the first position. Layla doesnt seem to be to anything in any way at all to my Thane. Granted my Thane is only L16. My Layla is 3 Star L80 and she doenst do anything for him. My WK straight sucks. Worthless in my opinion, but opinions may vary. So these have been my observations using varying setups with Thane and Layla.

When I put Thane in the alliance with Layla none of his powers show up. Only seems Thanes powers show up when he is lead in alliance. At least for me anyway.

Youre correct. It doesnt show up in print because of the glitch. The powers definitely do activate though, even though you dont see the words in print. Try it. I just did it again. Took 6 hits before it activated, but it did.

Id screen shot it but but its not that serious, lol. I have Thane in the 3rd position, Layla in the first position and MK in 2nd position. It activated on the 4th hit this time. It certainly doesn't activate enough fo rme to really want to use him, but I could see it you had enough copies of him, he could be awesome. I have only one copy and its not worth it to use him just yet.

Im absolutely certain that it does work without Thane in the first slot. He just activated twice for me with him in the 3rd slot again. Its pretty random. Took 6 hits before it hit the first time and 4 before h it hit the 2nd time. Does work though without Thane in the first slot for sure. He still activates whichever slot he is in.

Now the matter of Thane having powers in the 3rd slot is something I believe. What I have question is with him being in the 3rd slot take advantage of Layla’s heroes power of gaining a better chance for him to succeed. I don’t think we will really know until the game fixes the feature in his stats when you check on the alliance.

another question is let’s say you have like a 6 star Thane at level 80 and let’s say his power does work with Lara’s ability. Would you still replace someone like Jera with Thane that has a guaranteed damage output.
