Alt Accounts Illegal?

So where in the Terms of Service does it state that having an Alt account is illegal? the ONLY clause that I could see that could be misunderstood that way is as follows...

8. Account Responsibility

The Service is available for use only if the user is a registered member of Facebook, from which they access the game. In addition to compliance and agreement to these Terms, you must also be in compliance with Facebook's Terms and policies.

In creating your account with Facebook, you agree to provide and maintain true, current, and accurate information ("Registration Data") about yourself.

Castle Age reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account in its sole discretion if Castle Age has a reasonable belief that the Registration Data provided is untrue, inaccurate, false or misleading. Castle Age also reserves the right to terminate any account that has been inactive on the Service for 90 consecutive days.

So by that statement as long as my information is correct than how is it against ToS? Do people enjoy crying to admins? I personally do not affect other players in a negative way with seperate accounts so whats the problem here? or was this just some whiner that had nothing else to complain about that day and made up some crap?

If you go WAAAAY back to the origins of Facebook, alter accounts were impossible.

It has only been a 'recent' thing that alter accounts can even exist on here.


It used to be that you HAD to input a University email address to join (FB used to be only for College students).

When I joined, they were allowing high schools too, and I had to enter my school's email to join.

Now, pretty much anyone can join, so alters run wild. I'm pretty sure that they're illegal, but typically not enforced.

I think you are allowed an alt if it isn't fabricated. I am sure there isn't a guy named Castleage Player out there. Then again some parents like unique names.

illegal is so the wrong term.

It is not allowed per the ToS from FB and CA. They can close your account if they catch you for breaking the ToS.

It, however, is not illegal by any means.

I buy and sell Virtual Currency (World of Warcrat, EverQuest, Maple Story etc) I have done this for over 12 years now. I have been told many MANY times that what I do is illegal and it is not. It is against the ToS for players to buy or sell their gold/items/characters/whatever for most games (althought not all) yet I am not doing anything illegal or breaking any ToS since I do not play any of those games... The players are breaking the ToS but no games have ever banned player accounts for buying legit gold (if you buy from dupers/scammers then you could get screwed) They do however ban sellers of gold quite often IF they sell an extra ordinary amount over an extended period of time AND the game cares enough to go find them.

Again, not illegal, just against the ToS for which they can block that account from playing the game.

Funny part is, all you have to do is open a new account. Most game companies, if not all, even encourage it.

Funny part is, all you have to do is open a new account, some games even encourage it.

The illegal part is not your action of selling the gold but in breaching a term in the ToS which is technically a "contract" between the client(you) and the GameProvider.

Therefore, they still can legally sue you for a breach in contract, i know it sounds stupid but there's court cases in China and Korea over MMORPG stuffs...search the net, you'll find it :3

Nobody said that was my FB name....but if I ever wanted to make an alt I am sure I would have a 1 of a kind name.
