Water protection gem: how to get it from water elementals

No, it's a chance on hit drop, just like Orc War Axe randomly drops when you are attacking in Battle of Dark Legion. It's not sure whether the drop chance is affected by the sta spend on attack, so I personally advice to use low sta attacks to land more hits for more Fragment.

Also, the Water Elemental had roughly 1mil HP, it's definitely not Sta based.

I've just got the fragment, just after killing the elemental... (with my last 10stam attack).
Have you experimented yourself that it's a chance on hit drop ?

It doesn't appear after the trident is dead.
After the trident dies, you will ALWAYS get the "you barely escaped" message. Probably just the devs being lazy

The water elemental gives a Fragment of Water Protection randomly. You need 16 of these to create a Dull Gem of Water Protection.

Hit Poseidon directly and kill it. You get a chance of getting a Dull Shard of Water Protection. You just need 6 to create a Dull Gem of Water Protection.

Seems like farming for water elementals may not be such a good deal after all, not forgetting you might peeve some people off by not pulling your weight in killing Poseidon if you just hit the water elementals.
