These questions really depend on your risk tolerance as well as EV in Damage amount, e.g. bird in hand versus two in the bush. I am conservative so I would choose the +Atk just like how I use Barb vs Dolomar & critic general alliance.

Here is an example to help you understand EV versus EV & Var or mean-variance approach,

Suppose you were given a choice:
    a) 50% of winning $0 and 50% of winning $100 or EV of $50

    OR

    b) a guaranteed prize of $30

If you went with EV as your metric, then you would choose a). If you went with EV & Var, then the guaranteed $30 prize might be better DESPITE having a lower EV.

The world does not live by EV alone.

Thanks Batw. That's what I was thinking as well.

I suppose I can experiment with loadouts, especially since I prefer to low-stam hits when using Dolomar. The "law of averages" work well when trying to get crits.
