    1.Basic Stats

Your basic stats, which you will use all throughout the game are Energy, Stamina, Attack, Defense and Health.

To increase your stats you will need skill points. You receive 5 skill points from leveling up. Other sources of skill points include: quests, achievements, conquest paths rewards, monster medals etc.

Energy is mostly used to complete quests, farm health and defense essences (for runes), healing monsters, in the engineer conquest path and for trading essences of all kinds.

Stamina is used to hit monsters and to participate in the various battle features. Using stamina and energy gives you experience, which means these stats determine how fast you can level up.

Attack and Defense matter in Player vs Player (PvP) features, but they are also used in monsters to determine your damage, and heal amounts. Both PvP strength, and monster dmg/healing also include many other factors, which you should not ignore (they will be briefly explained later in the guide).

You will need health for Guild vs Guild battles. Add to it when you are comfortable and when you feel you need it, as it does not help in other aspects of the game, unlike your other stats.

    2.Pierce System

Pierce and resist are an integral part of your PvP strength. There are also monsters which will require you to have a certain amount of pierce or resist in order to do full damage.

There are several different kinds of pierce and an equivalent number of resistances. The 2 main groups are Physical pierce and resistance and Elemental offense and defense. Both of these build on your other PvP stats, acting like multipliers.

It is unclear how much these help in PvP, though it is likely on the order of 100 pierce/resist giving you a ~10% increase in strength, with elemental offense/defense giving perhaps a little less. What you should remember is that gems alone are not sufficient for PvP strength, as they only build on top of your other stats.

Your main source of pierce/resist/elemental strengths will be gems and gear. Gems are slotted in gear (which can also have innate pierce/resist/ele) and can be acquired through alchemy from monsters, some can be purchased with guild coins, and there are also so called chaos gems from Chaos Campaigns which will form a big part of your elemental offense/defense. There are also heroes which give bonuses to pierce/resist/ele.

Gear and heroes with pierce/resist/ele need to be equipped to be active.

    Notable gems:
    - Bronze ingot (+25 pierce or resistance)
    - Bronze ingot stack (+35 pierce or resistance)
    - Silver ingots (+45 pierce or resistance)
    - Electrum ingots (+55 pierce or resistance)
    - Shining gem of Earth Fury/Offense (+25 Earth Offense/Defense and + 25 Pierce/Resist)
    - Chaos gems – these can be common, rare, epic and legendary. You will want to fill your gear with the epic variety whenever possible. At most you will be able to get one chaos gem per 2 weeks (easy campaign = common , normal campaign = rare , hard campaign = epic). A legendary gem is made by combining 4 epics.

Some useful info on campaigns: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=1001789263257849

    3. Divine power

Divine power is used to “break” divine armor in some monsters. Most of it will come from monsters, though some heroes also provide a little bit. Your divine power is calculated by taking your best bonus from each gear type and hero. You do not need to have the gear/hero equipped, unlike with Pierce.

When you will need to start hunting for divine power, you can start with Jahanna, Agamemnon, Kessaran etc.
A list of divine items can be found in the wiki: http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Divine_Items
And a guide from the wiki on building divine power:
    http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Strategy_Guides/Tips_on_Building_Divine_Power

    4. Heroes

Heroes have special powers which will help you in basically all aspects of the game. A complete guide on heroes would take thousands of words and is beyond the scope of this guide.

A few aspects that are important to know however:
    - Hero stats: they do not look like much initially, but over level 50 they grow significantly . Hero stats will eventually be an important part of your monster damage and pvp strength
    - Hero Promotions: All heroes you acquire start at one star by default, and can be promoted until 8 stars depending on the hero type. Favor generals (Oracle > Favor generals) go up to 5 stars, and for a few there have been promotions which allow you to get a 6th star. Chest heroes can go up to 8 stars, however chests are random and getting a hero to 8 stars can cost you thousands of dollars depending on your luck.
    - Promoting a hero increases its stats and ability
    - To level a hero you will need hero crystals and colored hero crystals. There are multiple sources for each, however the main sources for hero crystals are prayers to Cassandra , and the main sources for colored crystals are monsters.
    - Heroes can be "Aggressive", "Defensive" or "Balanced". Depending on this "stance" they will need more red (aggressive) , green (defensive) or blue (balanced) colored crystals to increase in level. Hero potions which can be used to level your heroes also come in one of these 3 colors depending on the type of hero they can be used on. Lastly , an aggressive hero will have more attack, while a defensive one will have more defense. Using an aggressive hero in monsters will give you a damage boost due to the higher attack stat.
    - Two useful resources from the wiki:
    http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Heroes
    http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Hero_Crystal

One Favor (also called Monthly) hero will be posted on the main page, depending on your level. You can buy any favor heroes you missed from this page: https://web3.castleagegame.com/castl...y_generals.php

    5. Guilds

Joining a guild is perhaps the easiest way to meet other people in Castle Age. The social aspect of guilds is considered important by many people, though there are plenty of in-game benefits to joining a guild:

    - Rewards from 100vs100 and 10vs10 battles. These cannot be accessed unless you are in a guild.
    - Rewards from Guardian, Hunter and Engineer Conquest Paths. Again, not available unless you are in a guild.
    - The rewards mentioned above include: hundreds of skill points, tens of thousands of rune essences, hero potions, hero crystals, gear that is not only present in Item Archives, but that is also useful in PvP features, and in monsters.
    - Access to Orc monsters in Land of Mist which are the only way in which you can get Electrum Ingots. You will eventually get multislot gear on which you will want to have an Epic/Legendary chaos gem and an Electrum ingot.
    - Blue Crystals from Land of Earth (essential if you are to level up your heroes).

As you can see, by not joining a guild you miss out on a lot of fun and on some very useful rewards.

    6. Runes

There are 4 runes which you can level up for bonus stats: Attack , Defense, Damage and Health runes.

Each attack/defense rune level gives you +5 to attack or defense, while the other two runes advance at +4 per level.

The damage rune is used in guild battles to determine how much you will hit for. There are also various guild powers which use the damage rune as a multiplier. The same is true for the health rune. The damage and health runes are only useful in guild vs guild battles, while the other 2 runes are also useful in other features (pvp , monsters to a smaller extent).

Attack and damage essence will mostly come from monsters, while health and defense essence from Excavation Quests. All 4 essence types can also be purchased from the Conquest Paths shops.

    Further reading: http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Runes

    7. Item Archives

You can receive bonus attack and defense for owning certain items. The bonuses can eventually reach several thousands points in both attack and defense so they should not be ignored.

The Item Archives bonus needs to be activated manually every 24 hours. You can get bonuses for monster loot, Conquest Path gear, Chest items, Heroes owned etc.
For a full list please check this in-game page: https://web3.castleagegame.com/castle_ws/item_archive_bonus.php

    8. Quests

Quests can be accessed by clicking on the Quest button visible from any CA page. Completing one quest to 100% nets you one skill point.
After completing the final quest in a land, subquests will open. Quests and subquests can be done up to level 4, giving you skill points each time you complete them.

Other questing sources that people sometimes ignore:

Demi Quests (opened up by praying to demi gods): http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Quests#Demi-Quests
    Atlantis II quests: https://www.facebook.com/notes/castl...7856207317829/
    Epic Quests: http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Epic_Quests

    9. Battles (PvP and GvG)

Ranking up in the various PvP formats will typically reward you with skill points or allow you to purchase gear which you can either use directly, or get bonus SP for it through the Item Archives feature.

    Further information: https://www.facebook.com/notes/castl...3914177045363/

Raids are a sort of hybrid between a monster and a PvP event. You must kill a certain number of players in order to defeat this "monster" and you are rewarded with loot at the end as you are for having killed a monster. Raids are the only way in which you can get the hero Chase.

    10. Monsters

Collecting from monsters you killed will reward you with loot: gear, demi points, favor points. Once a monster is dead the collect window is available for a limited time, ranging from 24 hours to several days (recommend to collect as soon as you can so as to not miss on your rewards).

Harder monsters will also give you rune essences while you hit them, and on each essence drop you can have a chance at getting hero potions dusts or colored hero crystals. These drops will start at 150 stamina spent, and slowly go down to one drop every 120 stamina. If you use bigger stamina hits the essence drops go in a "backlog" and you will be able to collect them by doing smaller stamina hits.

Loot can be useful for several reasons:
    - it has divine power, allowing you to hit other monsters without a damage penalty
    - it has slots in which you can forge your runes or gems
    - it can have other innate bonuses: pierce/resist/ele bonuses (more often), crit chance, boosts to guild skills, boosts to a specific hero (less often)
    - it gives a bonus to Item Archives.

Killing a monster in less than 24 hours, and doing more than a specific amount of damage can give you a gold medal. Gold medals can only be received once, and the reward for them is skill points.

Further information on gold medals: http://www.castleageforums.com/cforu...Monsters-guide

Damage in monsters will grow linearly with your Hero and Gear stats (heroes above level 50 will give you massive increases in damage), and logarithmically with your personal attack stat.
Additionally, each monster has a "threshold" for attack below which you do base damage (not applied to hero or gear attack). Once you get above the threshold the damage rapidly increases for the first few hundred points, but then you will not get as much extra damage from increasing your own attack.
The thresholds can be anywhere from 5-10 attack to 4000 attack . Luckily between Item Archives, runes and heroes that grant a bonus to "monster attack" (e.g. Sahar, Sorkan or Zarevok), these thresholds are not hard to reach.

Healing in monsters functions similarly except it uses defense. (note: there are no heroes that increase defense in monsters).

    Further resources:

Detailed information on the thresholds: http://www.castleageforums.com/cforu...ef-Breakpoints
A spreadsheet that can help you calculate your monster damage: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...uWs/edit#gid=0

    11. Demi Blessings

Every 24/48 hours you can pray to a demi god and a skill point will be assigned to the power represented by that god:

    Malekus for +1 attack
    Corvintheus for +1 defense
    Aurora for +1 health
    Ambrosia for +1 energy
Azeron for +1 stamina (only demigod with 2 days cooldown as 1 stamina is 2 skill points).

Prayers done on Friday and Saturday will give double skill points.

    Further information: http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Demi-Power

    12. Achievements and Feats (14)

You should always be mindful of what achievements you have available as they will give you skill points and favor points.

For a complete list please check in game: https://web3.castleagegame.com/castl...hievements.php

Feats of Strength give you a few one-time rewards for having certain amounts of stats/army: https://web3.castleagegame.com/castl...l_feat_nav.php

Thresholds are posted in game, in the achievement tab, as well as in this forum thread: http://www.castleageforums.com/cforum/showthread.php?49649-Castle-Age-Festival-feat-requirement

    13. Conquest Paths

Conquest Paths offer many useful rewards: gear with pierce/resist/crit chance/+def, skill points, rune essences, hero potions, hero crystals.

The rewards are purchased from the path shop with guild coins.

A few key features of Guild Conquest would be:
    - Land of Mist: here you “explore” lands, and receive rewards and bonuses after you clear the lands of monsters. Lands can also be stolen from other guilds.
    - Land of Earth: you have 4 gates that you need to defend at all times. LoE is your main source of guild exp after level 5 and of blue hero crystals
    - Conquest Duels: a battle ladder that uses conquest tokens instead of stamina
    - Conquest Paths: Guardian, Conqueror, Hunter and Engineer. They tie all the other features together with a single reward system.

This is quite a complex feature and I would recommend reading about the Guild Conquest features in this guide:
    http://www.castleageforums.com/cforum/showthread.php?73498-Guild-Conquest-Updated-guide

    15. Miscellaneous

World Monster: It appears at 4 pm/am GMT every day. Rank 1 gets a copy of Odin ( a hero), other ranks get a small amount of common chaos shards.

Monster leaderboard: Every day the person that does the most damage to monsters receives a copy of Vivian. Ranks 2-100 get a small amount of colored hero crystals: https://web3.castleagegame.com/castle_ws/monster_leaderboard_list.php

Daily Spin: The button appears after 8 AM GMT every day on top of your battle feed on the main/home CA page and can be clicked only once per day. Prizes include Gold, 15 common shards, 10stam pot, 10ene pot, 20gc, 30 common shards, 30 rare shards, Agg/Def/Bal hero pot, 100gc, Full stam pot, Full ene pot.

Mystic Emporium: Offers the possibility of purchasing various useful resources (e.g hero crystals/potions/heroes/lumber/iron) with FP, however one of these items can be purchased with gold(probably selected randomly). If you have a lot of gold, it's similar to an additional daily spin every day. You can also refresh the rewards with 5 FP. https://web3.castleagegame.com/castl...l_emporium.php

In addition to all of the above, Castle Age also occasionally hosts events that can give you useful rewards. Here are some forum threads for some past events (most have been repeated several times, but the rules and rewards will vary between iterations of the same event)

In my opinion, this post deserves a "Sticky" (and a thanks)

As a constructive note, on section "10. Demi blessings" I would have explained the concept referring to 24h or 48h periods instead of "days", like you did in the Item Archives section.

I like the order you chose to explain things and I don't miss anything. Very nice in the overall.

Edit 1: Maybe a section for guilds is needed? Being in a guild is crucial to participate in some part of the game (creates a nexus with other players, improves your character faster and so on)
Edit 2: I would also add that collecting for a monster must be done in a window of time. Later you won't be able to collect (and that is way frustrating)

Thanks, the feedback is very much appreciated. Replaced "days" with 24/48 hours. Guild things are mentioned throughout this guide , but you're right that they are important enough to have their own section. The second edit is simple to add and i will do it right away.

Nicely done...you didn't even miss the epic quests...wondering if excavation quests should be mentioned separately in quests as it is an important resource for general xp, and people don't place much emphasis on it...

That's pretty much all the stuff I hate, aside from the people. They're the worst.
