Vanguard safe points are predicted at 485K (check the 2nd post, 1st page). If you want to be safe, go more than that.

Yeah, think I've been suffering from the 4 battles a day glitch thingy for a while, after partially taking some time off, lol.
Still am perfectly happy with the result anyway. Would be eff'n tickled pink if they somehow magically lowered the cut-off for Hero though.

EDIT: Never did get the FP's or arena points back for those glitchy and dissappeared battles yet! That might make a difference? I saved several in-game screenshots... :D

Even Alpha never broke 30k as an increase. If you thing about it the daily max without refills is 31,500 and 46,500 with (not including the incredibly rare speed kill). you can only get that high by winning all battles with pure 240 scores.

I would expect another 25k jump, but anything over 470k for the final cutoff would be very surprising.

If those are the options...I'd say "Enjoy the party!" If there's a lull or you just can't stand it THEN slip away and burn a full round of tokens, slip back in, and slip back out briefly in order to collect.

From the Spreadsheet last reset Vanguard was at approx 442k which was 24k higher than the day before. Can we expect the Vanguard to go up by 38-40k today or are we more likely to see 30k increase at maximum?

I agree with echo. On its own Vanguard probably won't go past 28,000 or so upper end. Unless there's a glich with the arena ending properly, don't worry about any herculean run up in the score.

Once again I was so close to Vanguard I could taste it!

The thing that sucks is I was Alpha until CT lost power for 4 days. So, I missed out on nearly 4 straight days of playing.

What is the reasonable maximum one could get without refilling?

Assuming average of 200 points per hit, 5 battles per day (not likely with all the glitches), winning every battle (again, not likely)

200*21*5*21*1.25=551250

Assuming 240 points per hit, 5 battles per day, winning 75 percent of the battles

240*21*5*21 * (.75*1.25 + .25 * 0.75) = 456435

Average 220 points per hit, winning 80 percent but missing 5 battles due to glitches

220*21*5 *20 * (.80*1.25 + .20 * 0.75) = 531300

I just can't fathom how people can get to even Vanguard, let alone AV, without refilling or completely and utterly sacrificing real life. I crunched my numbers as such:

Total Points: 349851
Wins: 64 Losses: 32
Average points gained per battle (not including bonus/penalty): approx. 3365
(349851 = 64(x+.25x) + 32(x-.25X) ...couldn't remember how to solve it algebraically but I trial-and-errored it until I got pretty darn close :D )
Points gained per 21 tokens used: 160.23
(I think I used six refills, all early in the tournament, which I'm not really accounting for)

Now I know that I hit for plenty of 200s and even 240s, but my issues were that I was often unable to use all 21 tokens in a battle. Sometimes I arrived late or couldn't get back into the battle before it ended. If I had to guess I'd say I probably averaged using 17-18 tokens per battle, which would equal about 192.3 average points per token.

I got into an argument with a guy late in the tournament about how it's better to go for wins since winning with lower points gets you a better total per battle than losing with higher points. Yet the player that was arguing with me made a good point: if you win AND go for more points, then you're that much further ahead, and if you play to win and get fewer points, AND still lose, then you REALLY hurt yourself.

I was very proud of my team won-loss record, and I would rather win than lose those battles no matter how it shakes down, but the fact of the matter is I don't understand how people can just be that determined to get every token in every battle. All I can think of is the South Park kids in the basement playing WoW... I know that isn't true for everyone but dang, other than refilling, how else can you do it?

Well, your assumptions leave a lot to be desired. Assuming 200 points per hit is low balling it by quite a bit for the lower levels -- nearly 90% of the targets yielded 240 points for me (if I could beat them); and overestimating it by a similarly large factor for those high levels where 90% of the targets only gave them 160 points.

Bottom line is I achieved AV in 107 battles w/o using refills of any sort ... and I am certain that I was not alone.

that gives you ability to get 240 majority of time (that build also gives you a chance to help your team to win, you can pick targets, not only to farm 240 from health bahamuts)

Three things work in my favor and are the only reason I can do it:

1.) Extreme pvp build
2.) A job behind a computer where they don't care what else I do as long as I get my assigned work done on time
3.) An iphone for when I'm not at work and also to remind me when a battle is starting since I'm too ADD to remember on my own

Of course, since everyone else in your tier must also have high BSI, it makes it harder to get 240 points. I think you meant "effective attack". If everyone in the top tier has a high effective attack, but low effective defense, then it is easier to get 240 points. I agree with you that it is not difficult to get 240 points on more than 50 percent of the attacks, but even with 80 percent victories, it is hard to see how one gets into the top tier without refills.

The thing to remember is that once you are in the top tier. Everyone has high BSI (probably even those who buy the refills) and some are going to be high enough level that even with a lower BSI, you are going to lose if you attack them. Yes, there will be many targets, but everyone is targetting them. The assumption that everyone in the top tier is winning all their battles and getting 240 points per token against each other is a bit hard to swallow.

Last time I pointed this out, someone said that it easier to win all the battles since if only one side shows up, there is a win rate of 100 percent. Anyone in the top tier see a battle where only one side showed up? How often did that happen?
