Where Battles are concerned, if you took 2 people having exactly equal armies, both in size (numbers) and equipment/soldiers/monsters. Everything exactly the same up to and including the assortment of Heroes to join in. The one attacking would ALWAYS win. There are so very few things to be had that don't have a much higher attack rating then defense. So that if everything else were exactly equal, and that includes the person stats for each of the 2 players (exact same attack, defend, energy, stamina, health), the attacker would always win. This also applies to Dueling, even if both players had the exact same General and the exact same equipment to outfit them with, the attacker would always win.

Someone has to lose. "Fortune favors the bold", as they say.

From what I have seen around on this forum(refer to the getting started and tutorial sections) the items or monsters or spells in question to not take into account both Att. and Def. stats. If you are on the "attacking" side then the offensive stat is taken into account. However if you are on the "defending" side then the defensive stat is the relevant number. Thus, it is a combination of items statistics(both sides-att vs def) that instead determines the outcome, though your own upgrading of your character is obviously very critical.
However if I am incorrect please let me know!
With the clear shift to Keira and of course to Dragons the likelihood of such a match-up has dropped drastically...still it would be an interesting experiment to see how things managed to work out! Ah well, my musings have run themselves out(LOL).....Take care to all and as always.......Game ON!!!!

Well we did some testing a while back and found that both attack and defense were taken into account for each side. They are weighted though, so when attacking the attack points you have mean more than the defense points, and vice versa. However the exact equation is still unknown.
If two people were identical, you actually can't say the attacker would always win. If both people were defensive, then the attacker would always lose actually. That's what happened in the battle testing I was involved with a little while back. Now if both players were offensive with most of their points in Attack, then yes the attacker would always win. It depends on how the stats are setup.
