Alt Accounts and Siege Weapons

MySpace doesn't have alt accounts in their Terms of Service.

This leaves the game open to players creating alt accounts strictly for the purpose of launching siege weapons.

[VK] policy has been that alts are okay as long as they are actually being played by the person.

There is currently a player who has a large amount of alts he is using strictly to launch siege weapons.

What are your thoughts on this?

(I'll add some more information after some initial posts by you, the other players.)

There is the 'legal' issue and the moral issue.

If there is nothing in the terms of service then there seems to be no legal issue.

Insofar as using alt accounts to launch siege engines does not harm any players there does not seem to be a problem here either.

Seems okay to me.

What if I added that it has happened where some players are not getting in their damage for achievement or loot? This player is not limiting himself to just launching on crisis battles, but any that suit his fancy.

If it was just his own summons, I wouldn't care. If the summoner asked him to do it... maybe. However, he typically just does it on his own without being asked. But he won't "help" if there are people on the battle that he doesn't like.

I know one summoner who was barely able to get his achievement damage in because the weapons were all launched overnight on a fresh summons. When he came home from work the next afternoon, there was only a smidgen of life left on the monster.

I think it is a potentially game breaking issue. With all the weapons launched through automation, it removes the challenge from the battles. Honestly, isn't the challenge and the unpredictable why this game is fun? It's certainly not for the click-click-click that we play, but rather for the teamwork and socializing that monsters (and in particularly soliciting siege weapon help) that this game provides.

Weird. I never thought I'd see complaints about excessive weapons being launched. To me, the most important thing is a monster battle is making sure the bugger is dead. If it's not, no-one gets any loot or achievement. And I'm speaking as someone who (on MySpace) only gets his intended damage on 50% of monsters because of lowish stamina. I expect to have to move on to the next monster if I don't do the damage on the current one.

I think it's likely that someone who "overcontributes" to a monster genuinely believes they are helping.

I disagree here.

but these things need to get put into perspective.

As a level sub 100 with less than 60 stamina - I struggle to put down damage onto monsters. I know it's where my build fails. but even so. As a much more efficient player in CA - I wait before killing monsters and check to see if everyone has minimum damage in before dealing the death blow.

with high level and power comes responsibility. Many times over here I've had my monster up just to lose out on my monster kill to a monster hunter with more stamina looking for a 'newb summoner to save.'

Some people are just selfish. The sooner the monster is dead, the sooner they can collect the loot. Doesn't matter about all the little people who haven't got their damage in. It's the same on FB with the slayers that swoop in, even when there is still plenty of time left. MS just makes it easier and faster by allowing alt accounts.

Funny part, this guy is rarely on the monsters he "saves" with his siege-alts.

But yes, there are a couple slayers in [VK] who kid that I keep them on a leash because I caution them to wait for more players to get achievement level before completing the kill. Taking care of newer players and lower levels is important to me.

Maybe the guy is just a prick who gets his kicks out of screwing people out of their damage and loot. Not sure how you would handle someone like that though.

If the game doesn't have a regular influx of new players, it will die. If the new players quit because they can never get in any damage, the game will die.

Regarding the automated launch of weapons I think it's fine as a last resort. As a strong PvP build I lack the power to do great damage to Monsters in a short ammount of time. But that is a choice I made when I began my build (Much like what Jim pointed out).

The last few monsters I have joined have indeed fallen too quick. Just got a PM on Myspace from someone calling me a "tagger" becuase I only dealt 200k to a Ragnarok. Sadly for them I made it my mission to "Tag" his keep :rolleyes:.

As far as BOTs on MySpace... One reason I find MySpace Failing is because of BOTS/ALTS... now my thought is BECAUSE MySpace doesn't prevent it (and the CA TOS doesn't either) I will not say anything bad about it... but I TRY to never friend an ALT and ONLY have ONE account myself... Frankly I have NO idea how they EVER find the time to run more accounts anyway (unless it is Automated) and the GAME is NOT really exciting so AUTOMATION would make it MORE boring... For ME the game is in the interaction ... the SOCIAL part of Monster Hunting and PvP... So when I see 100 siege hits on a monster by x1...x2...x3 I get turned off... and know I am NOT going to friend them later... (that being said Eureipedes Get is part of my army and I am too lazy to remove them at this moment)

HOWEVER I have NEVER seen a monster killed by Sieges... and MOST monsters in MS have the problem of RUNNING (especially Hydras I have given up on ever finishing my Hydra Achievements Until I can solo one LOL) The ONLY monsters I ever see consistantly WIN are VK monsters and that is because of DoR and her wonderful work... I would not SANCTION or Censure this person in anyway for what he/she/it is doing... They are providing a service it sometimes may be directed incorrectly at a monster that doesn't need the help... but in FB we have a similar problem with SLAYERS CRUSHING beasts and leaving behind a shattered wake with NO LOOT for others... The person doing the Seiges is NOT getting anything out of it... (no Loot for Seiges and the Gold/EXP is NOT nearly as good as for those who put in damage...) the Achievements will COME in time as the people in Question get big enough to do enough damage to NOT worry about a Seige Crusher comming along... I now do 1million (well 976,897 to be Honest) on a SINGLE crit Hit on Genesis (with Barbarus Equipped)... I therefore can get my Achievement with ONLY 70 Stamina (That hit and another 10 stamina normal general hit LOL)... of course I will ONLY get the Achievement IF the monster Dies so I am HOPEING that any Genny I hit this way Recieves ENOUGH Seige hits to kill it...

Not a fan of alts in any usage, but they are within the rules. So is using them to end battles quickly without the permission of the others in the battle. If you don't like it, chain him and his alts into oblivion. That's legal too.

Automation isn't allowed though. And that is definitely happening.

I can't chain his alts. They are all levels 7 and 8. All 2000 of them.

Since everyone else seems to think it's great, I guess I'll only worry about it when he screws with one of my summons.

That many alts is insane. Sounds like he is another unstable type too. Which would be par for the course over on MySpace, unfortunately.

Given the lack of attention given MSCA by the devs I doubt anything will be done. Can't blame them as the number of players over there is small and it sounds like many are alts.
