I am looking for a program with good chat rooms in it.

I went back to yahoo messenger after being away from it for a long time to find it full of bots....still.

Anyone have a good suggestion? I am just looking to chat in real time about general everyday stuff, kids, work, politics, etc..

I knew of a chat which I thought was pretty good, joined their group on FB but now I can't find them. Probably they got hacked or something. :(

That's tough. I'm afraid to go into a chat other than FB. Too many people like to curse and talk about showing off body parts or functions. LOL

It's been so many years since I did any real-time chat activity online, I can barely remember why I even bothered to try. Mostly what I remember is how it took hours of searching for every 5 minutes of worthwhile chat.

I seem to recall that the signal to noise ratio was slightly better on IRC than anywhere else, but have no idea whether that's still true or not.

Hope your luck is better than mine was.

It's empty at times... at least the few times I went into it. :)

~TigerI tried ICQ moments ago, and every chat room I go within, spammers and bots try to get into it and fail. Otherwise, people and their creative ways of displaying text.

I also tried their ICQ7 software. Had to uninstall it because I was irked by a pop-up which kept appearing everytime I started it. Aside from that, it's hard for someone like myself who has almost no friends and can't find them neither online to use a tool like that.

I am sorry that it did not work out for you. When I was younger, I used to chat a LOT online and used many various programs to do so. One of my favorites was 'virtual worlds' which started off in AOL, and then there was 'Virtual Places' by Excite. Now? Never do I chat online...

I even hide from the chat thingy when I am in FB.
I save chatting for face to face.
