View Full Version : Power Questing for Skill Points

**UPDATED: VERSION 6.0 (Ivory City Quests!!!)**

This guide is for anyone, but is especially potent for PvP players who want to make the transition to PvM/Power Leveling. The reason? While the levels might be slow, it is still possible to gain a fair amount of skill points from Level 4ing quests. You can do it on your own, but this might help you be more efficient in your endeavors.

To cut to the chase, I was browsing CASTLE AGE WIKIA when I found the quest tables. On those tables, they give you not only the energy required, and the experience awarded, but they also tell you how many times you have to click on the quest before reaching 100% (and getting a skill point). They even have an Energy/XP ratio, to show you which quests are the best for getting experience. But what they don't have is an Energy/Skill Point ratio based on the average # of clicks needed for completion.

So I made one, using a simple formula. Basically, if a quest needs to be clicked 10 times before reaching 100%, and costs 6 points a click, then the Skill Point cost for that quest is 60 energy per Skill Point.... 60e/sp. However, since most quests are grouped in trios, and you have to complete each quest in the trio to 100% before you can advance any of them to a higher level (i.e. Level 1- Level 4), then the AVERAGE Skill Point cost for each quest trio needs to be considered.

Here's the basic formula:

(eQ1 + eQ2 + eQ3) / 3 = ASPC

The total energy required to complete each of the three quests to 100% is divided by the number of skill points you'd get at each level (three). The average between those costs is the average skill point cost (ASPC). Simple!

So I made the calculations for all quests, from Land of Fire through Underworld (don't have data for Kingdom of Heaven yet) **VERSION 5.0: Yes I do, playas!**. VERSION 3: I ADDED THE DEMI-QUESTS. And here they are, listed from cheapest to most expensive in terms of energy cost per skill point.

**(Version 4.0 Update)**
Power Questing is different than Power Leveling. If your goal is to gain levels, then the single quest that provides the most experience is the 2nd subquest in the 5th quest tree in the Land of Water, called "Dueling Cefka's Knight Champion," which trades 20 energy for 35xp, currently best in game.

**Version 5.0 Update**
Kingdom of Heaven quests now included!!!

**Version 6.0 Update**
Ivory City quests now included!!! Special thanks to Patrick D!

Thank you so much! I've been looking for something like this and was even tempted to make my own, but I'm too lazy.

=== Tips ===

1. Use Sano for subquests; he lowers ASPC.
2. Fill your Elite Guard; also lowers ASPC.
3. You can also level your generals while completing subquests.
4. Buy expensive quest prerequisites (Obsidians, etc) in groups of five
5. Try to use up your energy before you level. Lotus Ravenmoore, 120 energy, got it?
6. Plan how you will spend your skill points before you earn them; you can only level 4 a quest tree once.
7. Balance your Power Questing with other Castle Age endeavors; questing by itself can get BORING...
8. Level 4 the Land of Fire quests right off the bat, and spend the skill points in energy; you will thank yourself later and it will help you level faster early on.
9. Demi-Quests unlock faster if you DON'T focus on just one Demi-God; unless you just have to have the Sword of Redemption in 45 days, try to achieve a balance.
10. After Land of Fire, you might want to postpone Power Questing until higher levels, because early on you really benefit from quick leveling and should be spamming the 20:35 quest.
11. Power Questing isn't for everyone. If you are an Energizer power leveler, you might skip it entirely until you reach 2,000 energy. But by then, you'll be able to use this guide to rack up quick skill points for your Attack/Defense stats.

why can´t everyone unlock the demiquests? ^^

60 skill points for you to acquire

61, you forget the 1 sp for each boss fight and 121 for heaven :)

Most players learn very quickly that questing is one of the best ways to level

not correct. you have the chance to get something between 4 to 42xp for a 5pa. 4 of course is bad, but 42xp is equivalent to a quest in which you invest 10 energy and earn 42 xp. but its pure gamble with stam. the fastest way to lvl is farming dragons :) but thats just my opinion, nice guide anyway ;D

Energy is fastest just because it allows you to collect skill points at an increasing rate compared to stamina.

This is a very useful guide. You claim that you have the land of fire but it seems to be missing in your list. The Fire quests would be the most efficient
I would say.

Here are their numbers:

Pursuing Orcs 17.0
Stone Lake 22.0
River of Light 40.3
Falls of Jiraya 48.0
Entrance to Terra 51.0

Demi quests would be very efficient. I don't have time to work their
numbers out but here's a few examples:

A Kidnapped Princess (1st Ambrosia) 36.0
The Crystal Caverns (3rd Malekus) 72.0
Furest Hellblade (5th Corvintheus) 127.7
Castle of the Damn (7th Corvintheus) 298.3

Thus the first 25 sets of demi quests (5 times 5) are more
efficient in terms of SP than almost everything but the fire quests and all of
the demi quests are better than almost all of the water, demon, undead,
underworld, heaven and atlantis quests.

Michael and others... I will add the Demi-Quests and Land of Fire to the original post as soon as I calculate them. :D

Also, I didn't know you get a skill point for complete the Boss Quests? I will have to investigate that... It's been so long since I first unlocked one with my main... is that confirmed???

Oh, and TECHNICALLY everyone can unlock the Demi-Quests... but you have to get something like 4,000+demi points for each one.... has anybody actually gotten all 4500 in each category? I guess you could.... OKAY... I'll post 'em...

Just about all veterans have. It only takes around 35 - 40 days of praying to each alignment to unlock all of them for that demi type, so anyone that has played more than 7 - 8 months and prays religiously will have unlocked them all, and that doesn't even take into account the 10 demi points of each type you can earn from battling and spare demi points picked up from other activities.

Alright, I will calculate the Demi-Quests... since this is my baby. And as soon as someone updates Wikia with stats for Kingdom of Heaven, I'll do those too.... :D

That's two major updates in one day! I will probably add more later.

You will notice that I have not posted anything about builds. There are other threads that discuss that very issue. My primary goal in this was to great a valuable resource for ALL PLAYERS, no matter their emphasis. I have found that, across video game platforms, whenever I start with a "build" in mind, I always rebel from my plan anyway. So what's the point???

Obviously, if you really like questing:

Energy 1,000
Stamina 100
Attack 45
Defense 45
Health 145

NOTE: I DO NOT POSSESS A CHARACTER WITH THE ABOVE STATS, AND AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU BUILD ONE THAT WAY....!!!

ODragon
06-02-2010, 11:13 AM
The one suggestion I might give:

Do your Duel and Invade training at the Training Ground. This is a free +1 Attack/Defense.

Then I would go large army. This will allow you to invade a bit on PvP. Do it until you get the to level 5 invade and have earned 5 defense points. Again, minor but everything helps.

I would also pray to Ambrosia to start with to get those energy stats early. Although, after having done it, I'm wondering if Corvintheus might have been a better choices so I could get my defense up so I can USE the energy I have more usefully.

A very useful guide. Bookmarked so that I can look at it
whenever I can't decide what quest to do next.

As far as the quester build goes, as already noted, defence might be
useful. You can then go and harvest FP from serpents to buy
energy refills to do more quests.

*bookmarked*
I think an army of 10 is enough to be a power quester, just to fill in E.G
but I don't know the max assasins that can ambush you during quest..
Edit: on that mark, I suggest praying to Corvintheus first then to Ambrosia

Foehammer

Power Questing will work if you have 100 Energy, or 1,000 Energy. It works because it allows you focus your energy points where you get the most bang for your buck.

Yes, if you don't have much stamina, and are truly a Power Quester (i.e. 3:1 Energy/Stamina ratio, or higher) then you'll eventually want to invest in Defense to help out with your Energy based monster actions.

Fortunately, as an Energy focused PvM player, you can still wreak havoc on serpents, Skaar, Bahamut, Genesis, Ragnarok, and Azriel.... aside from dragons and Chronus, you're not missing out on much unless you just HAVE TO HAVE those Death Touch Guantlets.

ODragon
06-02-2010, 08:03 PM
Another Power Questing suggestion for the list:

Make sure you level up with either Dragan or Terra equipped. While their bonues aren't amazing, every energy point you have will make you level up that much faster. Dragan saves 20 minutes, Terra 25 (30 with crown) without any trade-off for having them equipped. If you can afford it, Aria is the best, saving 50 minutes (55 if you bought her upgrade!!)

Wow, nice guide (:

I personally think that whether energy or stamina give you more xp would depend on how much you have of each. And I think that leveling up from questing is good since each completed quest gives you even more skill points.

Hey DiegoZ,

Individual experiences will vary, because I think the numbers change when you use Sano on the subquests (but affects all equally?), plus the ambush attacks you get are randomly generated.

But, all you gotta do is find out what a normal click does (i.e. 7%), and then divide a hundred by that. That is the base amount of clicks its takes to complete the quest. Ambushes do double the base, and if you factor in Sano its even more varied.

So I think its pretty accurate, or at least easy enough to find out. If you guys find any errors with the Wikia numbers, let me know.

It's only a small issue, but the % increase looks like it has a fraction as well. i.e. you don't do 5%, you do 5.5%, or something like that. I have often seen a quest go 10%, 20%, 31%, 41%, 52%.

It's only a minor point! ;)

Yeah, I think you're right... there's definitely a margin of error in here, especially with quests within 5 ASPC of each other.

Also, what could REALLY throw it off is if the chances of getting Ambushed are different for each land, quest trio, or individual quest. I'm not aware of any specific numbers out there, and even if there were, wouldn't want to crunch all that damn data to figure it out.

But the primary point of this mathematical exercise was to show several things:

1) Demi-Quests, on the whole, are the best investment if they're available
2) The chronological order/location of a quest is not directly indicative of its ASPC... sometimes you'll jump from land to land.
3) Some individual quests have a higher ASPC initially, but if you average them out with the more expensive quests in the trio, its a better indication of the actual ASPC of getting to Level 4
4) Even if one focuses entirely on quests, the road is LONG, LONG, LONG

(I'm also considering color coding the Demi-Quests for Version 3.2.)

I was editing the list for my own uses (purely cosmetic changes :)), when I noticed two errors with the Demi Quests. You're missing Ambrosia's third quest, The Search for Clues; and you have Shield of the Stars marked as belonging to Malekus instead of Corvintheus. All in all, though, a very well done list. Thanks for the doing the work for those of us who like to be lazy. :)

Unless you are trying to get your general's level up, you should always use Sano and make sure you have a full elite guard. Also, there is % carry over which is why after the first quest, almost no subsequent subquest starts at 0%.

See the attached image. You'll see it isn't much but when you figure out how many subquests you have to do, how much energy you are saving, etc, it does add up.

Energy is fastest just because it allows you to collect skill points at an increasing rate compared to stamina.

Energy does not have as high of a return on XP invested as stamina does, but energy does offer more SP per unit invested. That's why its best to have a bit of both. You can get your extra SP's with your energy, and level faster with your stam.

One thing to consider, that few people mention, is that both Stamina and Energy regenerate at the same rate, though Stamina is worth twice the skill points. So even if Stamina makes slightly LESS than energy, it's easier to rack up XP from hourly recharges.

To illustrate this, lets say I've invested 500 skill points into Energy and Stamina equally. This means my Energy will be 500, and my Stamina 250. My 250 Stamina will net comparable XP to my 500 Energy, but will take about 20 hours to recharge while my energy will take 40 hours to rechage.

Since energy takes so long to recharge, it makes sense to have much higher energy than stamina later on in the game, when 10fp recharges become more tempting.

Foehammer
06-07-2010, 03:12 PM
One thing I have been experimenting with is when, precisely, a player should start Level 4ing their quests. One school of thought says A.S.A.P. because the more sp you have early on, the more you benefit from recharges. On the other hand, if you save the powerquesting for later and simply do all the basic quests until you unlock the two Cefka subquests in the 5th Land of Water group, you can spam the 20e:35xp quest and gain a level with each recharge.

I was testing this with a friend's account, and I leveled from the low 70s into the low 100s in 24 hours. Granted, he was pretty much following an energy only build, had Level 4'd the Land of Fires and 2 Azeron demis... but it was still impressive. I think there is a point where the Cefka quests no longer net a level up with each recharge. I hit the ceiling right around level 105. His Energy is ~750, and Stamina is 25.

Now I need to gain a certain amount of Energy to reach that "sweet spot" again. At this point, though, I have to decide whether or not I want the build to keep going upward in energy, or to use some of my Power Questing points to pump up Stamina and/or attack.

The point is, the list I have developed applies to ALL BUILDS, ALL THE TIME. It will always be more efficient to invest in quest groups with lower ASPC scores, if your goal is Level 4ing for skill points.

But there are many directions you can go with it.

I do thank you for the calculations!!! (bow)

Yeah, the need became apparent when I realized that some quests in Land of Earth were advancing slower than some in Land of Mist/Water. And the last two Atlantis quests are among the SLOWEST IN THE GAME....

It's 10 clicks for me with a full elite guard, and 9 clicks for the main quest with Sano. The subquests give me an average of 6% per click (using Sano), so 16 clicks to complete.

I think I will use 15 clicks. I want to show the numbers without the Sano/EG bonus, but since most of you will use Sano anyway, that seems about right.

I will work on this later today or tommorrow.

Kingdom of Heaven Quests now included, based on the data provided by other posters in this thread.

[Subject to change pending new data]

It is interesting to see that even the Kingdom of Heaven quests have a lower ASPC than some of the others. It goes to show you why Level 4ing quests in order of land is really inefficient. I mean, it takes 120 Energy to summon lotus, but only 55 to summon Azriel??? I think the Devs are rolling dice.

FYI, I've been helping a friend with his account. It started as a power quester, but is evolving. He is currently level 308 with 1500 energy and 384 stamina after just 2 months. Using just dragon farming and Cefka's quest he can still level every ~2 hours. Depending on stamina returns it can actually vary from 0~3 hours. The plan is basically to use less efficient quests when afk long periods (like at work) and Cefka's when available for long periods.

For a new power quester, the cost of quest requirements can be a pretty big slow down. He is getting near completion, but just recently unlocked all of Kingdon of Heaven. Quest income actually ends up just as much if not more than land income. Also note that you can't actually do subquests until you beat the boss of each land.

A list like this is actually much more useful for a low energy build than it is a true power quester. When you have a large pool of energy you need to choose your quests based on XP efficiency, not SP. With over 1000 energy, a minor difference in XP efficiency can mean hours difference in level time (or possibly much wasted energy).

I'm sticking with my hybrid PvP build and will see if he ever catches up.

Point taken about my guide being more for lower energy builds. However, if you plan on completing the quests for the sake of completing them to level 4, then my guide still tells you the most efficient path.

My power level build just reached 1,000 energy, and I'm debating whether or not to start beefing up stamina for Dragon farming, or investing in defense so I can serpent farm and start collecting monster loot. That build hasn't passed up my main account... but it will in another week or two. Hilarious, since my power leveler is also my main's apprentice.

I think I will take it to 2,000 energy. The game will get a bit redundant with that character... but I have other diversions.

No worries... ;) and if you have any suggestions for how I can improve the guide, even speculation, let me know... I will keep on adding to the original post.

I started CA about a month ago, and while I _TRY_ not to be like Sheldon from "Big Bang Theory", there have been a couple of anomalies I have noticed outside any comment here.

As this is the most complete compilation of data I have located thus far, and with a June 30th post, also a recent and thus more reliable source, I figured I would post findings here.

I am running 10 accounts of CA, and most of the data posted here seems to corroborate my findings... and yet, as the title to this post mentions, there seem to be two rather interesting anomalies that I have noticed that have not been mentioned elsewhere.

Perhaps these are a recent change, as most of my reading/research seems to indicate that CA devs change things up on a rather continuous basis. Nonetheless, here are some factors I have noticed:

1) Given a 24 hour period, if one has not logged on and attempted to "Quest" anything during that time, then quests complete more quickly for a short period of time/clicks.

-Perhaps this is ambiguous in reading, but basically it is this:
If a quest was advancing at 3% (as an example) per click, and you log off and do not return for at least 24 hours, then the SAME quest will advance, using the SAME general (and all other factors the same) advances at 5% (as an example) per click.

This, as mentioned, does not last long... usually about as much to finish off the quest in question at best. I am guessing -wildly, at this time- that it is some sort of coding that encourages "once-a-day" or less players to keep playing by making the first few quest clicks advance quickly to that SP reward, and thus encourage further clicking. And no, I have never heard of the like myself, either.

2) Lower level sub-quests advance more quickly, the higher level you are.

-This seems rather consistent, and strong enough that I sincerely expected to see other reports of such. And yet, I have not as yet seen others mention anything like this.

As an example, let's postulate that a player is working on "Triste", in the "Land of Mist" and was advancing at a rate of 3% trying to gain SP (and yes, of course this was my first notice of the situation, but further testings from Earth and Water confirmed this as well, thus far).

The player, upon research, decides that the extra SP (at 3%/click) is not worth the monetary gain (per Energy point), nor Energy/XP gain, that Demon and above quests give, and goes balls-to-the-walls only completing the primary 4 quests until he reaches the Obsidian requirements of Underworld.

Upon smashing his face into the base costs combined with upkeep costs of Obsidian items, he decides to go back to previous quests to obtain the $ needed.

Upon waking up one morning, and being near leveling up, he decides to go back to lower level Energy/XP quests such as "Triste" to maximize SP gain since he is about to level anyway. Why waste the Energy on higher level 1.3-1.5 XP/Energy quests that will only level him before all energy is used?

And once again, what was once 3% per click, same Generals, with generals the same level, etc, is now 5-7% per click or better... although the account is 20 levels (or so) higher.

I have now tested this on several of the 10 accounts, and found all to be the same within the last month. Higher level accounts proceed through lower level quests more quickly.

I would love to have others that are multi-accounted as well test my findings and report here.

..............................

I have never used Sano, although after reading this I might try and see if there really is a difference. 5% of 3% gain per click (or even 5% of 5%) is so minuscule that I never bothered. Combined with my above findings, perhaps I should have all along.

Foehammer

Higher level accounts proceed through lower level quests more quickly.

I have not observed this. While I am not playing 10 different accounts, across the four that I have, I have seen nothing but consistency. However, it is true that some "lower level" quests advance slower than higher level ones. Which is why I made this guide in the first place. For instance, most of your fifth quests in each land level slower than quests in the next higher land.

It is possible for some variation, because you have ambush attacks and what not that double the xp gained. The "# of clicks until completion" is calculated by taking the number from a standard, non-ambush attack and dividing a hundred by that number.

As far as Sano goes, ignore the 5% of 3% or whatever. He basically saves you a click or two by the time you complete a quest. He might drop a 17 til completion to a 16 til completion. That might not seem like alot, but it adds up over time.

Thank you for your thoughts. I will consider each of your points in further detail, and if others report similar findings I will consider updating the guide. But I, personally, have not observed what you are talking about in the second part of your post.

Foehammer

As far as the first part, I have not noticed that either. But I will investigate that. Since we don't have access to the PHP coding behind the game, it is difficult to pinpoint things.

It is definitely worth looking into. Perhaps I will let one account sit for more than 24 hours and test your theory.

1) This may have to do with "drop" rate, it's used for both loot and random-encounters.
normal quests have random-encounters, demi quests have loot drops, but both use
the same counter. The devs may recalculate things everytime the game updates.
I know by design, they wouldn't save it permanently.
Do we know if random-encounter increases 3% influence to 5%?

2) Do you take account the general's level also? Maybe the player is given similar ability
as Sano? :)

... I do not tend to pay attention to "clicks per completion".

In several cases, the "bonus" of a confrontation, whilst always won due to a full "Elite Guard", is often a pain... as I want to delay the completion of a sub-quest to garner as much gold as possible from it, or simply to record data as mentioned above without interference.

I have hesitated, and oft considered not filling the "Elite Guard" for these very reasons... and yet, from all reports, simply not having a full "Elite Guard" will skew results in it's own right.

My point being this: most posts seem focused on "clicks-to-complete" average. I do not.

I have not a single clue how many "clicks-to-complete" on any quest, nor any sub-quest. All I watch are the "per-click" changes, (mostly) ignoring any "confrontations" data.

If I see 27% rise to 30%, then to 34%, then to 37% , then 41% (Excluding/assuming no "interruptions"/"confrontations" occur), I conclude an average of 3.5% gain "per click" for that level of the character and General used.

Even the "interruptions" are somewhat easy to discount if they occur, as I simply start over (while noting) where they left the count.

Are we all using this same standard, or simply calculating "clicks-per-completion"?

I seriously swear I have seen notable differences upon going back to low level sub-quests, what was slowly advancing in Earth or Mist completes quickly. Perhaps it is using higher level Generals, and they have a "Sano-like" effect. I will (from here on, as all are L4 now) use Celesta as a base to try and determine this.

But again, fellow tester's data would be very welcomed.

Soulshorne

Basically, high level (117 as of this writing) doing low level quests (eg. a L100+ doing Mist) gets better % per click, but seldom gets "Encounters".

The extra % per click makes up for the % gain that "Encounters" give, minus the troops drop. If one is PvM, and cares not about the troop drops, it is a very slight advantage to spend some time/energy on Monsters for loot and level, to make up for some SP loss... and thus to use possible loot for future Monster attacks.

Getting up to Underworld, then going back to Mist to finish off old Quests seem to give 9%ish gain per click, but almost nothing on "Encounters"; mostly the same for Water... except that the %-per-click slows down (6-7%), but "Encounters" happen more often.

Demon realm continues this trend... down to 4-5% gain "per click", but encounters happen every few clicks.

Undead Realm is down to 3% "per click", but "Encounters" are every couple of clicks.

As someone else mentioned, the Demi-quests are the best, although they seem to follow the same pattern to a lesser degree. Lower level Demi quests cost much less, give crappy energy-to-exp, but one can pound out tons of extra SP due to the high % "per click"... although the %-per-click slows down the higher level the Demi-quest is. Nonetheless, they still far outdo "normal" quests in SP/energy used. The first two quests for every Demi seem on par to the quests in Land of Fire... a quick and easy 12 extra SP for each Quest.

Max them out ASAP when you get them to gain the extra SP for other things.

3rd and 4th Demi-Quests slow down slightly, near Land of Earth quest % gains, but still faster SP gains nonetheless.

Have not as yet been able to "open" a 5th-level Demi-quest as of this writing.

It'll definitely take a while. Castle Age has only been online for about a year. But I don't think its going anywhere.

Level refills account for a lot of bonus energy. I don't really use favor point refills, yet. My power level build has about 1200 energy, and I am usually within 100-200 xp to the next level when I've unloaded it. Its not worth FP just for saving 12 hours. I usually have enough energy potions to finish it off.

Also, you don't even have to complete it all. But some people do, and this is the order you should do it in.

I think the reason you are experiencing this is because each quest and subquest has a different ASPC. If you read the original post in this thread, it gives you the order. Most quests in each land aren't right next to each other. Some are, others aren't.

I've looked into it with an open mind, but I just haven't seen what you are talking about.

It is also telling that you don't pay attention to "clicks to completion." Because, in the end, that is what is important. Yes, it varies slightly. But if you want to complete the quests in the most efficient way possible, then refer to the original post.

Ew. Figuring 1 FP refill per level, we're looking at about 1000FP to pull all the Stat points listed at 500 Energy.

At 2000 Energy, looking at 254FP.

This grossly ignores a lot of factors, but the generalization gives me a rough answer to the question I've had as to whether completing the series on all quests is realistic on a 500 Energy build.

Considering that more quests continue to be added I think I need more Energy. Meh.

We need a wall of recognition for players that complete the quest cycle. Such a daunting task.

yes Cefka is still the best single quest, the point of this thread is to show those trying to get level 4 influence with each quest the best route to take.

Did u calculate the fact that when doing demiquest the quest meter goes up with like 10% and when doing regular quests it only goes up with 3% So you can't just focus on the energy spendings!!!

You DO realize it was taken in consideration already right? This is energy needed to get 100%. NOT energy per mission.

Updating daily. These ASPC are using Sano and full elite guard.

EarthII -COMPLETED-

1. River of Lava 451,66
2. Chasm of Fire 466,66
3. Confront the Rebels 475,66
4. Ironfist Dwarves 496,66
5. Vesuv Bridge. 508,66
6. Impending Battle. 511,66
7. The Rebellion. 514,66
8. Dwarven Stronghold 517,66

I'm not sure what your numbers are above and why they differ from the ones in the original post....? [Edit: Looking again, I guess they weren't included in the original post...I have them in my spreadsheet...must have gotten them from somewhere else....maybe someone posted a page or two back. Ahhh ok, Hfaistos's update in post 75 included them. The numbers differ slightly from yours, though...maybe Sano made the difference...so it skews the figures.]

Do we have the WATER II quest efficient order worked out yet?

Rastenn

Foehammer's original numbers were done without using Sano or any Elite Guard. This was probably done because that's how most or all of the quests are listed in the wikia. If you want to make an accurate comparison, new quests must be calculated the same way.

I posted using Sano and full elite guard to achieve max energy efficiency (since it is the goal of power questing for skill points), that is why these values are a bit lower than those posted by hfaistos. In the long run, it will save you THOUSANDS of energy.
I'll start updating waterII as soon I finish unlocking it (collecting 300+ billions gold to unlock the area in just a week is not fun...)

These ASPC are using Sano and full elite guard.
-

I appreciate your efforts OMGWTF. After a long hiatus from the forums I am going to update the OP in the next two weeks.

I won't use your numbers because they are using the Sano and Full Elite Guard tweaks, while the original numbers were not.

Since last June, I have really seen alot of people take advantage of the information in this thread. 31,000+ views... I am tickled. Never thought this would be that useful to people.

People that are 500 levels ahead of my highest toon have told me that this thread was invaluable to them eight months ago, and now they are rocking and rolling!

I am glad others have kept this thing alive. I will do your hard work justice and update the OP with the numbers when I have them.

I just wanted to make an off the cuff comment that Land of Water, a Demonic Transformation, the one with the knights of Cefka, (power questers/PL dream) is #70 or #73 from OMGWTF upgrade.

Not really going anywhere with this. Just thought the most clicked is so far down the list. Just truck me as interesting in an odd sort of way.

Lord DufDuf:

I've been looking at guild member numbers in a character builder spreadsheet, and I realized that one of my guild friend's 2xx toons has been getting a lot fewer skill points per level than my other, slower leveling toons.

So I wonder if spamming the Cefka quest actually hurts your power leveling ambitions because, at least with the lower ASPC quests you acquire skill points quicker than by spamming Cefka and pure leveling.

On that character:
Level__236
En____1473
St____55
Att___4
Def___7
Health_101

His Skillpoints/level rating is 6.52.

Likewise, another character of in the guild's is:
Level___233
En_____501
St_____250
At_____547
Def____204
Heal___170

His skillpoints/level rating is 7.51.

So the question becomes, "Should One spam Cefka or PowerQuest?" And the answer depends on what your goals are. If you are concerned about BSI for guild battles and whatnot, then PowerQuest. But if you are concerned only with raw LSI, then spam Cefka, fight dragons, etc.

But no matter what one's ambitions are, BSI or LSI, having a high SPI (Skill Point Index???) is crucial. Anything below 6.0 should raise red flags.

OMGWTF:
I appreciate your contributions.
I think I may use your numbers, with the following modifier.
Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't I be able to calculate the ASPC of the new quests without Sano/Elite guard without actually going back and doing it without Sano/Elite Guard?

The real issue seems to be that I don't really want to spend that much energy without the Sano/Elite guard bonus, but in order to accurately compare the new lands with the old lands, I need to.

So if we assume that Sano+Elite Guard = 10% quicker quest completion, it follows that your numbers would be circa 90% of the non-buffed ASPC. So the following formula could be used from now on, whenever the devs add new lands:

Buffed ASPC / 0.9 = Non-Buffed ASPC

So if an OMGWTF aspc stat is 456, then the raw ASPC would be 506.66
Obviously, this is a huge difference. And it might not be 100% accurate. But I think that once you get to the higher ASPC quests in your power questing quest order has more to do with what billion dollar items you purchase first.

Also, it is conceivable that some quests do not receive a clicks:completion boon with the way the math works out, so that is another downfall.

It will depend what your goal is. If you are aiming at raising levels fast as possible, just spam cefka, but remember that levels or bsi are irrelevant when it comes to guild fights, what will really matter there is your total attack/defense power vs your oponent, so I'd recomend you to power quest rather than simply spamming cefka's

Full Elite Guard gives a 20% bonus to whatever the base influence is, and Sano gives an extra 5%. Taking that bonus out of the numbers would be next to impossible, because (except where he is the main general) Sano's bonus only applies to the sub-quests, and some sub-quests take longer to complete than their main quest while some go faster. So I don't see any way to translate the old numbers or the new numbers to match with each other.

Since the 1st half part was done without elite guard+sano bonus, their relative order in energy efficiency wont change much. There will be a small overlap in the transition of both ASPC posted (with and without bonus), but the difference is minimal in terms of energy (you could just move a quest down 2 spots for an average aproximation) so I would not really care on redoing all the list, just take it as a rough aproximation and keep on questing :)

The very first demi-quests were all 10% per click without EG and 12% with full EG. Those numbers held steady throughout.

Well, this shouldn't be that hard. Just click on each quest once or twice, see what percentage a click without Sano and Elite Guard gets, and add multiples of that number until you reach 100%. No need to actually DO the whole quest.

But, yeah... I've been distracted lately. Been too busy Powerquesting and stomping on Lotus for those blasted DTGs, which keep evading me. Powerquesting gets really, really slow once you get far down the list.....

This were obtained with Sano + Full Elite Guard. There's a catch though. Some quest do not always start at 0%. So the actual energy required can be lower that what I've got. Still it does it for me.

Wow. ASPC above 1,000. I think by the time you get to that point, you need to decide whether or not PowerQuesting or spamming Cefka is going to be faster. I mean, it's gonna cost 9,000 energy to Level 4 those high ones. I imagine people spending favor points on recharges just to capture those lost couple of dozen skill points.

My PLeveler has 15xx energy at the moment... lmao.

I ported this over to the Wiki the other day.

http://castleage.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Questing

This doesn't have anything past Water II in the tables.
I split it into two collapsible tables;
* Quests with ASPC < 343 and
* Quests with ASPC >= 343

The 343 cutoff is the highest ASPC required for a demi quest. There are only 16 non-demi quests that have a lower ASPC than the worst demi quest.

Examining the ASPC for demi quests gives three simple rules;

* quests in a particular tier are all approximately the same ASPC,
* and quests in higher tiers are higher ASPC,
* generally Ambrosia > Malekus > Aurora > Azeron > Corvintheus for ASPC.

The first table can be collapsed for ease of viewing the data in the second table.

The two tables were generated using the data from the original posting plus the data from http://174.37.115.166/cforum/showpost.php?p=1951944&postcount=95

Edit: I added Mist II and Mist III using the data from http://174.37.115.166/cforum/showpost.php?p=2048561&postcount=118

Unfortunately the numbers in that post for Water II don't match up with the numbers I already had. I've just left my old numbers in for now.
I also edited both tables so that they are sortable by Location now.

Yay! I made the Wikia! I guess I could have uploaded it myself. But thank you xlegna! I like your breaking it up into two categories. I am also considering different formulas for determining what order one should pay tribute to the gods... the Sword of Redemption and possibly Moonfall amulet aside, there really isn't a need to unlock one demi tree at a time. So I think it can be argued that it is more beneficial to unlock each of the lower quests one by one, then the second lowest, and third lowest, and so on.

But no matter what one's ambitions are, BSI or LSI, having a high SPI (Skill Point Index???) is crucial. Anything below 6.0 should raise red flags.

Well one thing not mentioned from a PVM stamina guy like me is it is NOT an issue of SPs per level. It has to do with TIME and the advantage high E/S gives from the leveling process, especially concerning stamina. Hfaistos mentioned it in one of his threads, that PVP people tend to forget just how important that energy/stamina burn is once you level. Sure we ALL get 288 e/s per day, but the difference is I'm 95% done with my level 10 minutes after I level but wait there's more......

Here is a real life example. I didn't play for a day or two was busy. A gold medal came along. I found a hydra did a 3x 200 PA got 3000+ experience. Used what I had left over on the gold. Had 600 stamina left over did another 600 PA only got 1000+ experience this time. Used up stamina on gold. Did Cefka so as to level. Leveled. Burned E/S again, did Cefka. Took a stamina refill, did a 150 PA on gold, leveled. Did MORE to the gold, did Cefka. Got 600 experience points from leveling. Next day, leveled again, did Cefka got 1100 points from leveling.

So you see in a 24 hrs span (with a 600 stamina head start) I was able to bring 4,000+ stamina and 5600+ energy to the battle. All for the price of 1 refill.

People always say , 'We all regenerate at the same level so there is no advantage.' Yes we all get 288. But if I do Cefka I get 288 stamina + 1,000 (from leveling) each day.

Cefka is not about SPs. It's about allowing me even at level 500+ and a hybrid (not pure PL), to level daily and just keep bringing the stamina back to full over and over again.

Ironically Cefka is a stamina multiplier.

However, since most quests are grouped in trios, and you have to complete each quest in the trio to 100% before you can advance any of them to a higher level (i.e. Level 1- Level 4), then the AVERAGE Skill Point cost for each quest trio needs to be considered.

Thought about this lately. Usually the main quest is much cheaper than the subquests, so I would split the trio:

a) first time for main quest

b) 1s for both subquests + 2nd for main quest, 2nd + 3rd, 3rd + 4th; necessary energy = average per quest

c) cheaper subquest

d) more expensive subquest

With this split you can hunt for SPs a bit faster.

Also dependencies matter: You can do Aurora's boss quest for low energy, but you will have to do Mist III first. So I'd put the boss quest behind the a) quests of this land. It's a bit more tricky in lands like Demon Realms where you only need 4 of 5 quests - I'd put the most expensive quest somewhere behind the boss quest then.

At the moment I am too busy to compile a new list though. :o

The amounts of gold needed to get into the quests past earth 2 makes me sick. Leveling speed means nothing once you max out the other areas (depending ifyou want to waste all that time doing the stupid demon and underworld sub quests which can suck up 2k energy and only give you 2 skill points and no money. (Those 2 areas suck and are worthless)

I have no idea how ppl have finished pangea and can summon malakeus (millionaires spending 10,000) dollars ?

1) They need to add more lands. Or change the quests to actually give you money.

Like the OP said spending 20 billion to get 4 million gold is stupid so why limit the amount of land you can buy no one is going to ever max out dwarven its just dumb.

I guess I'm not really complaining but once you hit the end of earth 2 it really saps any intrest in the game because your stuck it could take "years and years' for some build types to even do one quest but even for power levelers it could take months and months... It just really sucks when you get stuck this is tjust at water 2 I can't imagine how stupid this is going to get for the next 4 areas.

EDIT : nothing sucks more than ppl getting to the top tier and then the devs nerf something....it's like oh my buddies got insane but we gonna nerf it so you can never be insane with them....give us more monies plz

Depends. There is no fixed max - any land will pay off sooner or later. Assuming CA then still runs and you still play. But when it's gone / you stopped playing, it doesn't matter any longer anyway. ;)

Also different types of land are differently efficient. The two biggest types are rather inefficient, for example.

I stopped buying at 440 of everything, and I easily made my way to Malekus. The latest quest areas don't demand much additional soldiers etc., so don't worry about this too much.

I stumbled upon a tactic which is probably blatantly obvious, but sometimes I'm a bit slow...

I burn all my stamina first. Then I do a stamina refill and burn all of that. Then I check to see how much xp I need to level and subtract approximately 1.4 times my current energy. If that comes out to significantly less than 1400 or so xp then I pick a quest with a high xp to energy ratio to do so I'll level up sooner via natural regen. If I happened to get crappy xp returns for my stamina and 1.4 times my current energy would leave me with more than about 1400 xp to level then I'll do the worst xp to energy ratio quest I can find and then do a 2nd stamina refill.

The goal is to not waste any stamina on that 2nd refill. I picked 1400xp because without the Orc King, the largest hit I can do is 600 stamina. That leaves about 400 stamina I need to be able to burn before doing that 600 stamina hit with a guarantee that I won't level up before I do the 600 stamina hit. So assuming a lucky streak where you get maximum xp for every hit 400 stamina would top out at a bit less than 1400 xp. That would leave you close to a level up with exactly 600 stamina. Then you just level up with a 600 stamina hit.

Unfortunately I frequently don't have enough excess FP to make use of this tactic but it has come in handy a few times and I should be able to do it more often as my attack goes up.

Ironically I actually level up faster when I get crappy xp when doing this since I can squeeze 2 refills into 1 level instead of just 1.

If you have the Orc King then it's a non issue since you can just level up immediately with a 1000 stamina hit. Some of us don't have him and might not ever get him though... :)

Thanks Patrick D.
I might not be practically useful for me before at least a full year, but I was curious :)

Ineluki: the lowest xp/nrj I use is usually the demi quests with energy potions (but maybe with such huge energy as yours, you'd have to worry about the 40 potions maximum )

I meant unfinished quests. I don't do the potion quest or any other quests that I have maxed. Only quests that yield skill points. And my energy pool is still less than 900... But not for long.

Ah yes, it makes more sense with the amounts of energy in this context.
And 900 is still big, as seen from here ;)

(Edit because of page change: Patrick D updated the Quest list in the previous page )

Thanks for the new comprehensive list, especially the inclusion of the Atlantis II alchemies. Interesting to see that there are 12 SPs there to collect that costs less energy/SP than the quests I'm currently on. Time to head down to the seas...

I noticed that too recently. Just finished the 7SP ring a couple days ago. Haven't done the 5SP one yet. :)

Thanks for the revised list, Patrick D! I assume all quest costs are now w/ Sano and EG bonuses? I noticed there were quite a few changes in cost order compared to the original. The feeling I got was that they made sense, in light of what it seemed like when doing them, more or less.

Yes the numbers are all based on using lvl4 Sano and a full EG. The guide shows the most optimal way to do quests and I have used my own data combined with what's in the wiki to do a complete revision of the list resulting in much more accurate numbers. Some earlier quests had random drops for example that would also give you a small quest completion boost. I calculated the statistical occurence of these random drops based on my own data and then used that to calculate the average number of clicks for those quests. Overall the list should be pretty accurate now, I wouldn't dare say 100% accurate since there could still be a few minor errors but I did my best to make it as accurate as possible. :)

In case someone finds it helpful or curious - and because I was bored - I inserted all the XP/En ratios to the data provided by Patrick D. But because the forum's posts are hard to edit for colums etc., I just made a public google spreadsheet of it all. You can find the 'sheet here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtcybJEJqNyFdHVMLWVzV2hqbC1maGxSWm1ZSDZwM 2c&hl=en_US#gid=0

All ratios are rounded down, I think... and in format of Mainquest, 1st sidequest, 2nd sq...

Awesome job updating us mayu.

I have a question for Atlantis 2, do you always do level 2 for the underwater map?
I'm trying to figure out how emerald ring costs less than aquamarine, the numbers works fine if you did. I thought it should be included just for clarity sake :)

Yes always level 2 for the underwater map, level 1 is a gamble that could get quite costly if you're not so lucky. The emerald ring is cheaper because it earns you 7 sp instead of the 5 from the aquamarine ring. And you're right, I should include this information.

It's like 7-9 clicks per main quest so like 500-600 energy per SP.

Dunno about the sub-quests.

This might have been explained before but I was wondering.
As power questing means not doing the quest in a chronological order, I will need to open up a lot of lands before following the outlined order in this thread. Thus doing a lot of "less" rewarding quests before following the idea outlined here. Has this been taken into the equation?

Same here. I'm trying to go back to the earlier levels like Land of Earth to get SP's from the subquests, yet those take forever so I stopped temporarily. What's going on with that?

It appears that each subquest takes approximately 16 clicks for Atlantis 3. One of my guildies has completed it and that's his report. 5-6% influence per click the whole way through.

Here's what I have. This includes Atlantis III and the regular quests all the way through Perdition. Fire 3 and Earth 3 are not in. Atlantis 3 is estimated based on 8 clicks per main quest and 16 clicks per subquest, which is believed to be obtainable with full EG and Sano. The other numbers are taken from upthread. It's probably not exactly accurate but the best I could come up with.

x3NSC, what dances with wolves means is that it takes a certain amount of energy to get damage/health essence from the quests, then it takes energy to trade that essence at market, and as a result your rune increases in levels (effectively giving you SPs in the form of additional defense or health).

This "opportunity cost" is what must be compared to the gains of regular questing to see at what point you should stop one in favor of the other ... until you reach your next inflection point and return to the original task (since it gives a better return on you investment of energy).

Can someone post an update with the stats on rune essences (energy per skill point yada yada) ?

I did a little calculating as an example, to figure out where you are you'll have to plug in your exact situation. This assumes no rune experience bonus from conquest victories - if you are careful to trade in your essence when your bonus is full you will obviously do a bit better.

A level 19 defense rune gives 90 defense and requires 99501 rune XP (according to the wiki), we'll round to 100,000 rune xp for ease of use.

To get 100,000 rune xp, you'll need 20,000 defense essence (1000 xp per 200 essence traded).

To get 20,000 defense essence, you need to complete the underworld defense essence quest to completion 14 times (you end up with a little extra - you get 1450 defense essence for completing to level 4)

14 times through the underworld quest at 1800 energy each is a total of 25,200 energy.

It requires 25 energy to trade in 200 essence, for a total of another 2,500 energy to trade in 20,000 essence.

So that is a total of 27,700 energy required to get 90 defense points, or about 308 energy spent per point. If you look at the quest list, that is waaaaay up the list around the end of the demis and the land of water and mist. If you have completed the demis and the early lands to 4, taking your defense rune to level 19 is a more efficient use of energy than questing and adding defense points.

Looking next at the marginal benefit of going from level 19 to level 25, where the experience table ends in the wiki:

It takes about 73,000 rune experience to go from level 19 to 25, which gets you an additional 30 defense. That corresponds to another 14,600 defense essence, which costs 18,000 energy to obtain and 1825 energy to turn in for a total of 19825 energy. That then works out to 661 energy per skill point.

I'm presently on Sinking Feeling in Atlantis III, with an average energy per skill point of 874, so my guess is it makes sense for me to level up my rune to level 27 or 28 or thereabouts. If I could find the formula for determining rune experience required to level, I could figure it out precisely.

It would be easy enough for someone with good Excel foo to add a column to the table in the wiki showing marginal energy per skill point for gaining each level if that formula were known as well.

It just occurred to me that you can get 16,000 defense essence out of the Guardian path conquest shop, so you can get most of the way there with just the trade-in cost. There's another 6000 defense essence in the Engineer path shop if they ever release that content as well.

I was so excited about seeing this on the wiki, I don't even know where to begin. It is going to take a while before I get this many medals, but it is also going to be a while before I need my defense boosted for healing again.

Cost of 10000 Def Essence in energy: 10000/1450*1800 ~ 12000 energy (accounting for a a slight trading bonus). I don't regret doing one defense mine (I don't know why, but I ended up getting credit for two), but I am excited I may not have to do more to get the most cost effective portion of the defense rune bonuses.

I would suppose you just add 10% to what the current calculations are.

Did anyone got the updated data for the missing quests? I mean: Land of Earth (III), Outer Realms and Undead II.

Here it is, updated for everything but the Land of Earth (III). If anyone has information on how many clicks it takes to finish off the main quests, post and I will update the table with those as well.

I had to chop off the first 50 quests to fit in the character limit. Those are not changed from above, anyway.
