Alphabetize joined army list

When looking up a joined army, it takes forever to find one. My friends page is Alphabetized, why can't my army listing also? :confused:

I am an extremely curious person and would really like to know who my highest level army members are and who are my lowest, without having to go through every page. When you have a couple of hundred in your army that is just plain painful :(

It would be handy when you know someone has a dragon and you want to find them if you havent tagged it. (I hate tagging dragons to come back later and find it dead)

Or even to be able to send an attacker a message that you have a dragon and you need help.

I do know we can "CALL TO ARMS" but some of us have our favourite attackers that we know we can rely on and will help out anytime ;)

There must be a number of other reasons to support my arguement and I am hoping that others will reply to this post with them :D

Or even to be able to send an attacker a message that you have a dragon and you need help. In the meantime, you can try sending them a gift and adding a personal note to it.

you basicly have to have 500+ people in your amy to watch your back, yet I dont want to deal with 500 people on a regular basis. I want to be able to make a list of 10-20 of my top "friends" so that I dont have to sift though all 500"friends" to find their names (when sending them messages or gifts). Also being able to limit those who can attack my dragon to just this list seems benificial to me.

Just make a list on a piece of paper then... when you type the first few letters of a person's name into the gift tab thingy, it'll come up with those names. Very quick... it's what I do (except my list is about 80 people long and I have it saved on the computer to make sure I gift everybody evenly).

my problem isnt so much with gifting as that is in order but it's when trying to find them to assist on their dragons.

Oh and I plan to remove most of my friends, but not til I hit the magic 500 number.

Add the user ID to the end and you get to their keep. If you know someone has a dragon or is active and might have one, get their ID from their profile :) Might be easier than searching your whole army.

Is there a way that the players list of army members could be organized alphabetically. With all the groups/fanclubs out there, this would be a handy feature. When a person is trying to find a member, it takes forever the way it is now to search a large army listing for a single person.

I propose a way to locate your friends when looking thru your army. alphabetical, by rank or by level... any of those would help, altho I think alphabetical would be the best choice. Also, to have a place to click page numbers at the bottom of the army lists would be nice too.

I totally agree. It is so frustrating to have to go through 50 pages of names to find the one you are looking for. Also there needs to have the page numbers on bottom as well as top.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to find your friends via the Army pages? The Send Gifts boxes are in alphabetic order.

I didn't answer the poll because neither option applies. I have a huge army, but I don't have much use for the View Army page.

I'd love it for the simple reason that it makes it easier to find dragons from my active army friends. I'd prefer to search for those that also exchange gifts - but of course they're all over the place which makes it hard and I have to look for dragons on random people's pages, not knowing whether they even want me to join (which would be different with the active ones). Like, I joined a Kiera this morning because she had one space left. Looks like my attack is quite high because with just one use of staminas I went up to 5th place on the attack list... so I do hope they don't mind me joining. But they might just as well have kept that place for a friend who then didn't have a chance any more.

Anyway, that would be my reason.

I think ya hit the main points well! :) I am one of a small group who dont automatically put out a call to arms at the start of a hunt, so the alphabetical search would help tremendously there. What I wind up doing mostly is going back to the last Keira or Dragon we dropped & getting to the next persons keep that way. There are definately ways to get around to who ya need... but it takes a few extra steps. The Gifting is another big one... getting gifts then returning the favor is practically impossible with over 500 army that keeps changing order lol.

First a way to sort friends

Then a way to identify which gives you gifts
Example

*a icon who says which demipower are tied your friend
*an icon who says if fighting a monster or monsters
*one icon who give info about a new upgrade to the game in which Alvar is participating

Then a way to help not only to give gifts, but to help in battles, missions, or even any new game upgrade who requires teamwork (like trading proposals).

I have actually similar problems, and have a lot of army in a lot of games.

i think that a good idea at least a button to gift back someone to gift you. some games, say vampire wars, mafia wars, viking clan, have that option.

I think this is a good idea and I like some of the other suggestions posted as well - namely, the ability to sort based on level and to be able to see active monsters. I don't know what people are talking about with ID numbers, you never see them and there's no search bar for them (or the names) to be put into making it a fairly useless suggestion. I see the same thing in other games but it's all the same - no clue about ID numbers because they're not visible.

Castle Age has no form of organization when it comes to organizing your army. They don't even organize it by the date you added the member!

I read somewhere on this forum that your army seems to be listed in numerical order by their Facebook ID#. Which is completely unhelpful when it comes to trying to find somebody.

The 'sent invites' section is crying out for a similar overhaul.
If my current understanding is correct, (noob alert) this section is where the player can help prevent 'spam' and keep the invite limits high.

Unfortunately three things are discouraging use of this feature atm:

1. 'stopped' messengers have a nasty habit of re-appearing when your back is turned. (friends who already joined your army) ...

2. each time 'stop messenger' is clicked, you are back to page 1 with a new list order.

3. After you experience 2, you get to experience 1, closely followed by 2, all over again.

It's a castle age black hole :eek:

I would love a complete listing, and any kind of sorting method would be a definite luxury.

seems my original post from a few days ago dissapeared, but an alphabetical list is nice, but nicer would be able to communicate WITH JUST YOUR ARMY instead of all your friends; or the entire CA community. Some strategy on monsters could be 'discussed', now I have to scan and look, go to other help groups, scan again, to see who and where they are that has a monster or needs help. Often I have extended help to another on a cronus only to find someone in my own army has a monster I would have rather helped on, but I'm up to my limit of 3 'world monsters'. I don't have time to check the profiles of every army member.:(

I agree with having things alphabetized.. I have 1400 army, and many more in Mafia.. makes it difficult when you want to give credit to those that have assisted you.. even when it comes to gifts..

Sure like to see that, as well as some of the stats to eliminate such a long page when I got to the next kill ... I have 114 outstanding monsters list, I must scroll, scroll scroll to get to the current one.. Time consuming, and carpal unfriendly!

Right now I find that looking at the list of my army from the gift giving list the easiest way to finid out if I have added someone or not! If there was a way to make an group of favorites ("Squadron Leaders" maybe?) that would be great too!

Single page plain text list of army friends

Another nice option for the army list would be a page where I could see a plain text list of ALL my army members, so I could for example copy paste it into Notepad, and then compare it to my list of invited Castle Age friends to see who I haven't sent an army invite yet etc.

Now it's a kind of a pain because the list contains all sorts of rank information and it's spread through out several pages.

I'd expect alphabetical order would be pretty trivial to implement (just changing the Order By clause in the statement, from FB ID to Name). Sort by level should also be easy, again just a single change to the statement.

Some of the others might be a bit more time-consuming; and I'd guess that a sort by the date they joined your army would be the most difficult, because I'd bet that they aren't capturing that date/time info currently (can't see why they would be, as it has no application that I know of right now within the game. Not much point to capturing/storing/retrieving data that you aren't using and have no solid plans to make use of later).

An active monster flag should also be fairly easy, as your own active monsters are already being tracked/displayed separately from active monsters you are involved with that were summoned by others. And I agree, it would be nice to see some indicator in your army list of people who have any type of active monster.

But the sort is the primary thing, I'd love to see that and it really should be pretty easy to implement, not taking much (if any) time away from the development of other things. I think most people would be willing to wait on other suggestions for the army list if we could just have it sorted by name for now.

Here are a few suggestions for those of you wanting to be able to find specific people in your armies of hundreds.
Facebook Walls: If you create secondary lists within your Friends List, you can then set your wall to only show feeds only from those on specific lists WITHOUT HAVING TO HIDE ANYBODY. I have a list set up for family and another set up for my games. When I want to see things from one group and not the other, I set the option on the left side of my wall to that list. This would allow those CTAs to show up and be seen while avoiding the clutter if you are looking at information from a list which does not include any Castle Age players. You could also set up tertiary lists with preferred members so that there is less searching to be done within your gaming wall.
Finding SPECIFIC player's keeps in Castle Age: If you open a keep in a new tab or new window then you will have a direct link to that keep in the address bar of your browser. You can then BOOKMARK that page and never type it in again. This trick also works to create other links which are recurring in the game - can you say no more unfilled Elite Guards.

Most of the complaint that I can see arguing for being able to sort the list of people in our armies stems from the desire to find a few specific people and the bookmarks could sidestep that issue.

But at the same time, it should be a fairly trivial change to make. If the list is already sorted (which apparently it is, by FB ID) then changing the sort order is quite literally a single-word change to the statement you already have in place (the query statement that defines what data you are retrieving and displaying to the user - and Name is already one of those parameters because it is being displayed to you). The only thing that I can see that would really take much in the way of time and effort would be to modify the interface to allow the user to select for themselves what criteria they wanted to sort on. But even if allowing selection was not implemented (now, or ever), I think people would still generally be happier if the sort was statically alphabetic by either real name or CA name, rather than by an ID # that they rarely know or need to make use of when viewing their army list.

I think this would be very helpful in keeping certain friends close so you could find them. You could drag them and drop them to the first page so they could be found easily. If the elite guard tab could be added to that screen you could also possibly have the option of dragging and dropping people into your elite guard. Maybe an indicator if the member has an elite guard opening to make it easier.

I would definitely use a sorting function - I'm trying to grow my army, and it's so difficult to find out who I've gotten in my army and who I still have to track down. When you've got 400 "friends" but only 316 army, for example, it's an almost impossible task finding out who's slipped thru the cracks!

this can totally be fixed by facebook settings, check your Edit Friends feature in the account settings. make a list, call it... 1337? w/e you want, when you post CTA's just limit the security on who can see it and choose custom. limit it only to that list, (start typing in the list name and then click it when it shows up) be sure to put only the loyalists you want on that list... that's what i call them, "loyalists" form a good merry band of brothers and you'll be bloody well on your way to a hoppin' fire fest of blokes blowin' away at ye monsters. no dragon will have any chance, no elite guard go unfeelled, and ye'll all be sittin' sure on well by ye self.

The best way to deal with this is just keep adding people, create a giant flow, and don't worry about the ones you miss. It is easier that way. Plus, the people who are daily players usually will add you even if you miss them at first. I hear your complaint though... ;)

I had some major facebook glitch and lost most my friends list I would love to have the alphabetical army option, but more or less I would love to have the option of sorting out who is in my army that cant send gifts cause i don't have them as a friend... :(

Seriously, when I only had 20 army members it didn't matter, I have well over that now and trying to find out if someone is or isn't on my list is a pain. This isn't a difficult solution, business' have been doing it for, gee I don't know as long as we've had paper and files to put them into.
Can we get this worked on. New critters and gifting items are nice, but this is important too.

i think it would be helpful to have an [Ally] mark besides your army members on boss fights. it can help with knowing who answers your Call to Arms and knowing when a PRTF request is meant mainly for you.

Yes, I would like a Monster sort feature as well. Or at least a way to break out the links to monsters from everything else I see. But who am I kidding? It is Facebook. My page doesn't even sort my friends properly when I put them in different folders. It immediately reverts back to 'most recent.' I know, not a CA-specific problem.

Don't even bother asking them to organize anything on CA. I've asked before and all they said that it wasn't worth their time to even read my suggestion and that they don't even have to look at what they have because they know everything. Well of course you do!! You're the creators. All I ask them was can they make everything more organized especially the Items so say when newbies that are learning to battle at least they know what they are looking and be able to compare. Plus there are hundreds of reasons to organize things. Especially when you grow to higher levels and have so many items and members, etc. that things just look like 1 giant mess. Instead of trying to find cooler pictures to replace the soldiers with. How about spending a little bit of time making things more organizable or at least make so that we the castle age players can organize our own items. I doubt that it's that hard. Since lets say about almost everything on the internet is more organizable than this game. Don't get me wrong. This game is quite enjoyable even though you don't see any action happening but being unorganized is makes me so confused when even trying to look at my keep.

Can't manage army at all. At this point, I would settle for a feature that let me search and display one at a time, by CA name or FB name.

I also want to get rid of people that are not FB friends.

We need a "Start Clock" in the Guild Battles... It's tough to find when we are able to start another auto battle and the battle list is essentially worthless. Our Guild members need to be able to see when the next battle "Could" start (no sooner than) so they won't be looking to us to start battles that we can't possibly start.

Maybe teh Army listed as 'How Active' those members are would be good! That way it is easier to delete the Deadwood out of your army of those players that have stopped playing

Any real "army" has units for the purpose of controlled management.
At least for gifting and for CTA it would come handy to be able to assign players to such units - i.e. "Cannon Fodder", "Task Force", "1st Bataillon" and access these units exclusively.

Even Mafia Wars has improved here, but Castle Age is slow in enhancing UI and feature set it seems.

I am in some groups where we duel each other, this means removing from our Army and then adding them back in .... I really would like a search option to make the process faster to remove them instead of hunting thru pages of names randomly entered. I can't even find the first person I added ... they are lost somewhere! I would find this tool very valuable

only way i know how is using a 3rd party app which the devs strongly advise against..

BUT can't u just look on your wall to see who u added recently and narrow it down from there?

my army list is not sorted chronologically nor alphabetically, it is just 50+ messy pages and I cannot find anyone there when I want to.

What I would like to see is a button in someone's keep to remove them from your army...a "Remove From Army Button" :D
