Whatever it is called there are those ppl that attack something ONCE and wait for a reward. The only reason I caught it is cuz there is almost no one attacking this thing. The attack log shows the two guys at the bottom of the list attacked 10 hours ago ONE time and haven't been back since.

Gotta love noobs that are happy with small rewards for clicking once :(

Hopefully this pic shows:

not necessarily poaching - if a dragon is advertised I will often times hit it once so that it is in my log. after the dragon and I battling is dead I move on to the next one. if I never make it back to some of the dragons before they die then I am not really going to get anything so it doesn't really hurt anybody. but it could also be noobs...

Normally I agree but this same guy has been in on the last 3 dragons and did the same thing each time. Also, it was 10 hours between attack when I took this pic. So, hypothetically, assuming he clicked it before bed he had plenty of time to do something IMO.

I try to never have more than 2 dragons going at once so I can at least do 10k dmg before moving on. My goal is 50k-100k cuz I hate lame prizes.

It actually does hurt their chances potentially. There can only be 50 attackers on a dragon. Taking up one of those spots without dedicating any significant damage is very poor form.

i will also tag a dragon to keep it in my queue and as more attackers pile on so do i. it sucked to spend a ton of stamina helping someone kill their dragon only for it to time out since they didn't get enough help

Personally, I spend all my focus on one dragon at a time. When we have beaten it, or the summoner calls a retreat (Failing after so much commitment really sucks) I will then begin the search for another. Not much point to going at any dragon half-heartedly. When a person recruits me, they own my attention until they've had enough. I usually post as much when I join the fight, and can only hope the same courtesy will be extended to me when I finally feel like summoning my own. That being said, I would be in favor to allow the summoner to 'General' the battle and put such poachers on the front line to take all the damage from the dragon while we attack. If the dragon lands a kill, then they are out of the battle. (Or let one your Lieutenants grind them up in the confusion :D Friendly fire is common in warfare.

I've conducted 2 vulture/poaching tests:

Dragon: Level 23 Emerald
Damage: 346
Time Remaining: 70 hrs 40mins (This was an organised team of 28 fighters)
Earned:
War Bear! [attack: 5 defense: 4]
Fire Elemental! [attack: 8 defense: 5]
Fireball! [attack: 5 defense: 0]

Dragon: Level 80 Red
Damage: 131
Time Remaining: 10 hrs
Earned:
1 Favor Points!
Death Knight! [attack: 9 defense: 6]

So it is worth something to the vultures..

We never said it wasn't profitable... just makes killing it take longer and makes you look bad. I'd say at least put a few grand dmg into something if you're gonna poach that way it is a win/win.

what kjeldor said. I attack once to keep track of it, but im also not going to be the only one attacking and wasting my stamina on a dragon that isnt going to get vanquished.

The answer is simple... only the top 50% of those that slay a dragon get a prize... to if 25 people attack only once for 400 damage and the other 25 went in and kicked butt... they are the ONLY ONES to get anything.

I'd love for a developer to explain why it is NOT this way

i dont like people who hit once and leave but percentages are not the answer..what if 3-4 people pound a dragon and kill it, each with more than 250k damage? 50% of them means that 2 people get nada while they spend so much stamina.
The threshold could be a percentage of the dragon's health, ie for a red dragon of about 3mil points, if you don't do at least 30k damage -> 1% , then you get nothing. If you do 10%,ie 300k then you get better stuff and so on
