Why is it that Gifted Soldiers don't account towards quest requirements. I have a gifted angel, but needed to buy my own angel in order to complete one of the quests. I think this is rather silly.

Good point! I wonder if gift soldiers count as part of your army........

Gifted soldiers count in battle only. Everybody still has to buy what's needed for quests. Otherwise some people could open fake accounts and be lucky to be gifted expensive troops early on, then be able to level quicker than their piers because they don't have to earn the money required to build all those units to do the quests. You'd sure get people abusing it if the gifted ones counted for quests.

I haven't done the last quests in the demon realm, but I really don't see how this affects gameplay too much. I can see what you are saying, but the only way that would benefit someone is if they were pure energy players and I wouldn't mind a few of them around my level to make easy prey of. I say luck of the draw within reason. It doesn't make much of a difference at all. If anything, they shouldn't be allowed in battle mode. Early on, a person with a dragon can do major damage to other players.
Personally, I have enough income at level 50 to buy phoenixes for my 500 army. Might take four days to earn that much, but the option is there. The one thing that bothers me about the gifted troops is that they appear under the "keep" tab as different soldiers with the same picture of the non-gifted. Being "Monk-ish" I would rather they didn't appear in the keep tab. Looks stupid to have Knight Heroes, Archangels, Dragons, Phoenixes and what's this? Oh, another phoenix icon and another dragon icon! Little detail that I won't loose sleep over, but is annoying.
