I'm currently living and working in Asia and buying books in English is expensive. Does anyone know of a website(s) they could recommend for free book downloads: fantasy/sci-fi/history/classics? I prefer "real" books but beggars can't be choosers. Thanks for your time.

Don't think it will help you with downloads but check out paperbackswap.com

Not sure if they allow outside of the US or not but, maybe you could work something out with a friend.

I'm reading off an iPod Touch using the Stanza app (http://www.lexcycle.com/) and downloading off Feedbooks (http://www.feedbooks.com/).

If you google ebooks, you'll often come across this epub format, I found a link (or compilation of links) that can be helpful on How to Read Ebooks in the Format: ePub (http://epublishersweekly.wordpress.com/ebooks/%E2%99%A6%E2%99%A6-d-read/how-to-read-epub/)

I've reported this post as advocating illegal activity.

Also, the Pirate Bay has some very nasty malware. If you're not absolutely sure how to run ad blocking and script blocking software as well as how to remove something as serious as Internet Security 2010, don't go to this site.

Thank you for this, I will definitely give it a read.

Can you sign my Pdf? :)

Also is there an isbn yet? I was looking to put it on my order list and couldn't find one.

I think the classics are probably available on Google Books (http://books.google.com/), but otherwise...cheap books you can probably find on ebay.com or half.ebay.com :3~ (just make sure the shipping isnt too much for you since its international~)

you can download classic literature in here (http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/cgi-bin/category/download-free-mobipocket-ebook-authorsearch), there are 750+ titles of classic literature from 1500s until 1900s. Or maybe here (http://www.ipmart-forum.com), it is a forum, a lot of content in there, just go to the ebook section if you want to download the ebook. I like that forum, because it contain lots of titles, mainly novel. You can also go to mininova (http://forum.mininova.org/index.php?showforum=10) forum and request the books that you wanted. gigapedia (http://gigapedia.com) is another site where you can download ebooks. If you like comics like asterix, lucky luke, agent 212, and a lot of other title, you can go here (http://comicsworld.wordpress.com). I think that's what I can remember for now. If you have no problem downloading from torrent, then you will have more option in torrent portal site.

^This.

Support Baen. Great authors, and they have the good sense to know that free is not only the best price, it sells real dead-tree books as well.

Read "The Philosophical Strangler (http://www.webscription.net/p-318-the-philosophical-strangler.aspx)" if you get a chance.
